Police Investigating Cross Burning In Front of South Carolina’s St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church as Arson

Deputies investigate how a cross burned outside a church in Spartanburg

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office says a cross was burned outside a Spartanburg church.

Deputies say they were called out to St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church on Old Howard Gap Road Friday.

Deputies are looking into the case as arson.

Investigators believe someone set fire to the purple cloth or a wreath on that cross that burned some of the cross and surrounding grass.

The church has surveillance cameras and investigators are looking into what was recorded on them.
