A 15-year-old boy shot in the head by Israeli troops Friday has died of his injuries, according to Palestinian health officials. The teenager was one of four people killed during the fifth round of protests at the Gaza border, when hundreds of Palestinians ran into Israel. In addition to the four deaths, nearly 1,000 Palestinians were wounded by Israeli fire. “That was the first time we’ve seen this kind of synchronized and focused attack on the fence, and it’s something we are not going to tolerate by any stretch,” Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Cornicus was quoted as saying by the New York Times. More than 40 people have died since the protests erupted late last month, and Israel has come under international scrutiny for what some see as its use of excessive force against unarmed demonstrators.
