Pastor Charles Jenkins has Gotten Himself into a Very Shameful Situation, but on this Easter Celebration Weekend, Our God is Still “Awesome”

And Even Though this Situation is Extremely Unfortunate for him, his Family, his Church, and the Body of Christ, it Does Not Take Anything Away from the Song that the Lord Used him to Write for His Glory — “My God is Awesome” (Hear it and See it Below this Article)

This is a very shameful situation that Pastor Charles Jenkins has gotten himself into. We really do not know what is going on here, and quite frankly, we don’t want to know any further details. No pastor, minister, worship leader, or Christian should have a naked picture of themselves anywhere, much less on the internet. (Such a picture being taken of him is, quite frankly, causing people to ask, ‘Is he a closet homosexual?’ or ‘Was he in an adulterous relationship?’)

Until this situation is 100% resolved, and until these pictures are somehow taken off the internet, we believe Charles Jenkins needs to temporarily step aside from his role as pastor at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago.

Further, with another pastor in trouble, we at BCNN1 once again would like to point out the problem of older, scandal-free pastors who are silent when a fellow preacher whom they know has gotten himself into a bad situation. (The same thing happened with Mark Driscoll when he got himself into a bad situation recently.) Where are the preachers who know Charles Jenkins, who have preached in his church, who have invited him to preach in their churches, and who have listened to and enjoyed his music? In our opinion, pastors who have preached for Charles Jenkins such as T.D. Jakes, Kenneth Ulmer, Francis Chan, and others need to come alongside this young preacher and publicly say, ‘I know this brother. I’ll vouch for him. This situation that he has gotten himself involved in is shameful, but because I know him, as far as I am concerned, it is an aberration and may not even be true. Please don’t condemn him yet; instead, pray for him and his family as we counsel him and get to the bottom of this matter.’

During this Easter season, we want to encourage all Christians to pray for Pastor Jenkins, his family, and his accuser. As the Bible says in 1 Timothy 5:19, “Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.” Galatians 6:1 says, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

Again, with that said, nothing will take away from this beautiful song, which God used Charles Jenkins to write, “My God is Awesome.” This song is apropos on the eve of Easter. Again, we at BCNN1 do not believe that when a preacher messes up, everything that he has done before for the glory of God has come to naught.

Church, y’all better stop playing and start praying.

We love you all.

Have a great Easter!
