The brother of the late Christopher Starks honors his brother’s legacy on the field he loved.

Uncle, Pastor Collier Starks, leader of Rebirth Christian Outreach Center, told FOX 5 News the last words his nephew said to his brother Jamel Starks, who plays for Miller Grove High School’s varsity football team.

“Go play the game. Play the right way. He said, I love you and I’ll be there,” said Pastor Starks.

Jamel Starks, number 26, chose to play tonight despite his family’s grief over Christopher’s death.

“He said that’s what his brother would have wanted him to do,” Starks said.

Christopher Starks was shot and killed Thursday night, after a gunman opened fire in the Savannah State Student Union.

Starks was a star high school football player for Miller Grove High School, then transferred to Appalachian State University; he transferred to Savannah State after he suffered an injury.

The GBI is still investigating the shooting death and has not yet named a suspect.
