A crash near downtown Uvalde Wednesday night killed two people and injured ten others.

A pick-up crashed into a big rig after swerving around a border patrol checkpoint.

The Uvalde County Sheriff’s office says Border Patrol agents pursued the pick-up with 12 people aboard for about five miles until the truck smashed into the big rig and another pick-up near Main and Getty Street about two blocks from the Uvalde police headquarters.

The dead and injured were thrown widely over the intersection, which remained closed for hours.

Some of the injured were taken to hospitals in San Antonio more than 80 miles away.
