Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, pressed 29 Republican state lawmakers in Arizona to set aside Joe Biden‘s win there and ‘choose’ their own presidential electors, a new report on Friday revealed.
That number of lawmakers she contacted is 27 more than previously known and indicates an even greater involvement on her part in Donald Trump‘s effort to overturn the election.
Thomas, a lawyer and conservative activist, sent the message via the online platform FreeRoots, where a prson can send pre-written notes to multiple elected officials.
She used that platform to reach many lawmakers simultaneously, the Washington Post reported, telling them they had the legal authority to choose their electors and it was their responsiblity ‘alone.’
On Nov. 9, just days after media outlets called Arizona for Biden, she sent identical emails to 20 members of the Arizona House and seven state senators.
That was more than half of the state legislature.
She urged the lawmakers to ‘stand strong in the face of political and media pressure’ and claimed that the responsibility to choose electors was ‘yours and yours alone.’
They had ‘power to fight back against fraud’ and ‘ensure that a clean slate of Electors is chosen,’ the email said, according to the Post.
