Former University of Oklahoma Football Player Du’Vonta Lampkin, 25, Shot and Killed in Dallas

The Dallas Police Department says a former University of Oklahoma football player was shot and killed Thursday night.

Police say they responded to a residence around 10 p.m. to find 25-year-old Du’Vonta Lampkin lying on his back with a gunshot wound.

A preliminary investigation determined he was found after someone who tried to contact him went to check on Lampkin, police say.

Lampkin was with the Sooners from 2015-17.

Most of his playing time came as a redshirt sophomore when he played in 12 of Oklahoma’s 14 games and picked up 23 tackles and one sack.

He declared for the 2018 NFL Draft but went undrafted. Lampkin ended up spending time in Baltimore Ravens rookie mini-camp prior to a short stint with the Tennessee Titans. He later played with the Massachusetts Pirates of the Indoor Football League.

Investigators say he was staying at the rented location while waiting to move into a new apartment.

Dallas police are asking for the public’s help to find out any information related to the case.
