Houston Sheriff’s Deputy and Mother-of-Two Dies from Gunshot Wound to the Head After Argument with Her Boyfriend, but Police Are Investigating Whether It Was Suicide

Harris County Police Deputy Amanda Crowder, 33, of Houston, Texas

A female cop has died from a bullet wound to the head following an argument with her boyfriend in Texas, police said.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Amanda Crowder, 33, of Houston, a mother of two, died in the Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center after a shooting on Monday.

She and her boyfriend reportedly left the Kung Fu Saloon on Washington Avenue around 12.45am on Monday, then got into an argument and Crowder was shot. It is unclear if her service weapon was used, where exactly she was when the shooting occurred and who fired the shot.

Her boyfriend, whose identity has not been released and who is said to be a Houston firefighter, drove to Fire Station 6, also on Washington Avenue, for emergency help after hearing ‘hearing a gunshot’ and then saw ‘the victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the head,’ the Houston Police Department, who is investigating the incident, said in a press release.

Crowder was transported to the hospital in critical condition, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a tweet.

‘An off-duty HCSO deputy sustained a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound. She’s currently hospitalized in critical condition,’ he tweeted around 5.30 on Monday.

Hours later, the deputy, who became a cop when she was 19, died from her injuries.
