NFL Considers Moving Super Bowl LVI Away From Los Angeles to Dallas Due to the Coronavirus Plague

With California bolstering COVID-19 precautions amid a spike in COVID-19 cases, the NFL is eyeing contingency sites for Super Bowl LVI, which is currently slated for Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium on February 13.

It’s not unusual for the NFL to evaluate alternate venues ahead of its biggest annual event, but California has averaged 40,000 new cases of COVID-19 per day over the last week and recently extended an indoor mask mandate through mid-February. And even if COVID-19 cases decrease in California, the league could still consider moving the game if the state restricts attendance.

For the time being, though, the NFL has no plans to change venues.
