Whyte House Family Spoken Novels Holiday #38: Shaking the Gates of Hell: A Holyween Story Chapter 12

Welcome to the Whyte House Family Spoken Novels podcast: Holiday Edition episode #38. Today we are reading chapter 12 of the novel “Shaking The Gates of Hell” by Daniel Whyte III with Meriqua Whyte.

_______

At the Haven Bible Baptist Church, two adjoining rooms were chosen for the Hell House event. The planning committee designed the rooms so they would be as scary and as hell-like as possible. After doing a dry run of the Hell House walk-through, some folks on the planning committee came out shaking their heads. “I don’t know if the children will be able to handle this, Pastor. Even though I helped put it together, it’s scary,” one of the members said.
“That’s what I want,” Pastor Grant said. “To scare them out of Hell and into Heaven. I want them to see that Hell is real.”

On the night of Halloween, a crowd of over six hundred people lined up at the Haven Bible Baptist Church to experience the Holyween event.
The door keeper locked the door after each group of two dozen entered. They were met by warm, glowing worms being thrown at them from every direction. A young woman screamed as one landed on her face. Her friend brushed off several that landed in her hair.
Eerie sounds and screams of pain echoed through the rooms. Huge display monitors played video reels of fire. Red lights danced erratically on the ceilings and floors. The temperature in the two rooms had been cranked up. The heat was almost unbearable.
As another group stepped into the Hell House, a man fell to the ground as unseen hands grabbed him by the ankles and dragged him across the floor. The rest of the group walked nervously through the Hell House, as an ominous voice called out, “You have entered a place of no return.”

As the groups exited, many of the children and some adults were in tears. “It seemed so real. It seemed so real,” many of them were saying. “I don’t want to go to hell.”
Wearing a long white robe representing Jesus Christ, Pastor Grant led each group away from the Hell House and into the front section of the auditorium where food and games were prepared for the crowd. He gave a message of salvation as each group entered the auditorium.
“It was scary in there, wasn’t it?” Pastor Grant said. “The Bible says Hell hath enlarged itself and is preparing to meet you if you die without Christ.”
Heads nodded.
“What you saw and experienced in those two rooms was a very small representation of the real Hell. Those glowing worms looked real, and when a few jumped on your hands and face, they felt real, but in Hell there are going to be real worms. Wasn’t it hot in there? The flames of Hell are going to be even hotter. The sad thing about it is, once you go there, you will not be able to walk out as you just did. You will be there for ever and ever and ever.”
Pastor Grant gave the crowd a minute to think about his words and about their experience in the Hell House.
“Here’s what you have to do to avoid going to Hell,” Pastor Grant continued. “First, accept the fact that you are a sinner. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that ‘all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.’
“Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible says in Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin is death.
“Third, accept that fact that you are on the road to hell. What you experienced inside of the Hell House is only a taste of what the real Hell will be like. Revelation 21:8 says, ‘But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.’
“Fourth, accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9, ‘For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.’
“Fifth, accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.’
“Finally, with these facts in mind, you must repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. The Bible states in the book of Romans 10:9 and 13: ‘That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’”
As people responded to the Gospel message, Pastor Grant led them in the prayer of salvation. He said, “If you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please pray with me the following simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.”
The folks at the Haven Bible Baptist Church were shouting the victory all weekend as over four hundred people trusted Christ as their Saviour.

On the first Sunday in November, Pastor Grant celebrated with the Haven Bible Baptist Church family and shared the lessons he had learned while planning the Holyween event. “Satan never lets up,” he said. “He does not care who you are, what you are about, or what you have accomplished in this life. If you are on God’s team, Satan has his arrows aimed at you. He knows his days are numbered, so he is working overtime to stop all God’s people from doing the work they have been called to do. But you can rest assured, God and God’s people will get the victory in the end because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”

THE END.

Now, dear listener, please know that God—the divine Author of all things—wants to write a great story with your life as well. But first you must give Him the pen by trusting Him with the life He gave you and surrendering your heart to Jesus Christ as Savior. Here is how:

1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: “For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good, and sinneth not.” Romans 3:23 reads: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” The Bible says in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself! The Bible states in Ephesians 2: 8, 9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. The Bible states in the book of Romans 10:9, 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
