Michigan Man Dies After Being Accidentally Pulled Into Wood Chipper by His Jacket

Police believe a 48-year-old man was accidentally pulled into a wood chipper Monday morning by his jacket while feeding the chipper. According to Fox 2 Detroit, police were called around 9 a.m. by one of the man’s co-workers who found him inside the wood chipper.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and were able to perform first aid on the man — who was still conscious at the time — and apply a tourniquet to an unknown body part, however he died on the way to the hospital. He was part of a crew working at a private residence.

Two investigations have been launched surrounding the incident, one by police and another by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
