“Star Trek” Actor William Shatner will blast off in Jeff Bezos’ space travel company Blue Origin. The Amazon founder is a huge fan of the sci-fi series and even played a part as a high-ranking alien in the 2016 film “Star Trek Beyond.” Shatner will fly as one of its guests.
A happy Shatner, 90, tweeted “Yes, it’s true; I’m going to be a ‘rocket man! It’s never too late to experience new things.”
Shatner will be the oldest person to fly in space. The flight will last just 10 minutes and reach no higher than about 66 miles (106 kilometers). The capsule will parachute back to the desert floor, not far from where it took off.
