Firefighters are making progress in extinguishing a fire that jumped a California highway spreading itself across the dry hillsides. The fire broke out near Castaic in northern Los Angeles County. The wind did not help any. The fire blazed its way through the dry brush, jumped the highway and continued on its course.
The highway was closed for several hours as air tankers poured bright orange retardant on the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
