Earlier this year, Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders got into it with a reporter after being called “Deion” instead of “Coach.”

Sanders was upset at the reporter’s refusal, comparing himself to Nick Saban.

“You don’t call Nick Saban, ‘Nick.’ Don’t call me Deion,” Sanders told Nick Suss of the Clarion Ledger. That’s not all Sanders said, as he told reporters that he wants to be treated like all the veteran college football coaches.

“If you call Nick [Saban], Nick, you’ll get cussed out on the spot, so don’t do that to me. Treat me like Nick.”

Sanders appeared on ESPN’s First Take on Friday. He further addressed why he insists on being called “Coach.”
