PODCAST: Whyte House Family Spoken Novels #263: I Need Someone to Pray with Me – Chapter 33

Welcome to the Whyte House Family Spoken Novels podcast episode #263. Today we are reading chapter 33 of the novel “I Need Someone to Pray with Me” by Daniel Whyte III with Meriqua Whyte.

Kelvin and Simone’s wedding was a splendid event. The church was beautifully decorated. “You’re a natural at this design thing,” Quintin shared with Aubrey. “You definitely ought to go into business for yourself.”

At the end of each pew, a burgundy colored ribbon braided with a white colored ribbon was wrapped around a four inch white candle. Crimson and white rose petals were strewn down the center aisle, side aisles, and across the front. Burgundy and white sheer curtains hung across the front covering the pulpit area. The girls had pooled their resources and talents and, under Aubrey’s direction, they pulled off one of the biggest and most beautiful weddings Mt. Salem had ever seen.

Jennifer served as maid-of-honor, and Kelli, Simone’s two cousins, and Keron served as bridesmaids. Keron was thrilled. She slipped Simone a note before she and Kelvin took off for their honeymoon. It read:

Simone, I wish you and Kelvin all the best. Thank you for your help. Thank you also for your friendship. Pray for me that I will come to trust Jesus as you do. I love you, Keron.

“Keron’s a good person,” Kelvin said after Simone showed him the note. “She just has her issues which I’m sure she’ll overcome.”

“This is one wedding I’ll never forget,” Aubrey said to Quintin during the reception.

“Do you think you’ll want to get married again?” Quintin asked her.

“Yes,” Aubrey replied with a smile. “Someday…if I find the right man.”

“I’m sure you will,” Quintin assured her.

Over dinner the following Tuesday, Quintin gave her an update on Roger’s situation. Roger was still on bed rest and would be confined to a wheelchair probably for the rest of his life.

“I spoke with my lawyer friend who I asked to handle his case, and he said he will try to get the judge to consider his being confined to a wheelchair as punishment enough, coupled with the guilt over what he has done. He may not go to jail, but they are still discussing the case. The lawyer is working on getting his sentence reduced as much as he can. If he cooperates, I’m sure everything will work out,” Quintin said. “Anyway, enough of Roger. Let’s talk about us.”

“I’m going to miss Simone,” Aubrey said to her friends over cake and ice cream at her mother’s house during the first week of Simone’s two-week honeymoon. They had decided to meet at Mother Jamison’s instead of at the Cherry Blossom Cafe. “She was great to have around.”

“One thing I can say for sure,” Jennifer said, “and that is, God answers persistent prayers.”

“Yes,” Kelli said. “I spoke with Trevor and he’s resigned to spending the rest of his life in the military. Justin and I will be leaving to join him soon. They will be stationing him in Germany. Now that we are married, he definitely wants us to be together as a family.”

“We’re going to miss you,” Jennifer said.

“I’m going to miss you guys too. At least we’ll be together. That’s what I’ve been praying for. But what about you, Jennifer? How are things going between you and Brad?”

“Wonderful. Our wedding might be the next one you attend.” Jennifer stuck her hand out across the table and showed off a beautiful diamond engagement ring. “Brad gave it to me yesterday,” she beamed.

“It’s beautiful,” Mother Jamison said. “It seems like I’m losing my girls one by one.” She feigned crying.

“We’ll always be your girls,” they said giving her a hug.

Now, dear listener, please know that God—the divine Author of all things—wants to write a great story with your life as well. But first you must give Him the pen by trusting Him with the life He gave you and surrendering your heart to Jesus Christ as Savior. Here is how:

  1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: “For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good, and sinneth not.” Romans 3:23 reads: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
  2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”
  3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” The Bible says in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
  4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself! The Bible states in Ephesians 2: 8, 9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
  5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
  6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. The Bible states in the book of Romans 10:9, 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour!
