Order Signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom Will Lift Most of California’s COVID-19 Rules

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order lifting most of California’s coronavirus rules and restrictions. The order will end the state’s stay-at-home order and its various amendments.

There will be no capacity limits or physical distancing requirements for businesses. Fully vaccinated people can stop wearing masks in most places.

The statewide declaration of emergency will remain in place.

The order takes effect Tuesday.
