Mississippi Lends a Helping Hand to Other States by Donating Thousands of Covid Vaccine Doses

Liz Sharlot, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Health, has confirmed that 32,400 doses of the Moderna vaccine set aside for Mississippi by the federal government were sent to Rhode Island on April 20. Another 32,400 doses were sent to Maine. At least 807,150 doses have been sent to a federal vaccine pool. All together a total of 871,950 vaccines have been shared.

Mississippi has the lowest vaccination rate in the nation. Maine has the highest.

Each week, the federal government provides every state with a number of available doses to be ordered and distributed to providers. This number is based on “provider demand and the individual state’s needs.”
