A microphone was cut off for about two minutes during Lt. Col. Barnard Kemter’s keynote speech at a Memorial Day ceremony in Hudson, Ohio as he spoke about the slave origins of the holiday. Organizers with the American Legion Lee-Bishop Post 464 said they wanted the part of the speech excluded because it was ‘not relevant to our program for the day’ and asked him to remove the part of the speech before he gave it, but Kemter claims they never specified which part of the speech they wanted removed.
