China is instituting new controls in Liaoning province where new cases of the coronavirus are believed to have originated. Health officials believe the cases may have sprung from contacts with a foreign case.
Checkpoints were set up at toll stations, airports and railway stations in three cities in Liaoning. Travelers must show proof of having recently been tested with a negative result. Mass testing was ordered in the port city of Yingkou.
China has reported 90,872 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 4,636 deaths since the virus was detected in Wuhan in late 2019.
