According to the Daily Mail, A husband from Georgia shot dead his wife before turning the gun on himself leaving their three children heartbroken over their parents’ death and the rest of their family struggling to understand what happened. Timothy Price called police on Tuesday morning around 9am to tell them he had shot his wife of 11 years, 36-year-old Katherine, and needed help. By the time police reached the couple’s home in Centerville, Georgia, there was no answer at the the door. The Houston County Special Response Team forced their way insider the home after throwing several canisters of tear gas inside. The bodies of Timothy and Katherine were both found on the floor. The couple both had gunshot wounds. Timothy, 41, from Byron, Georgia owned a truck company and would also drive 18-wheelers. He had previously worked at Frito Lay. Katherine, 36, from Warner Robins, Georgia worked at Robins Air Force Base for the 116th Air Control Wing where she served as a budget analyst for 18 years. ‘Master Sgt. Katherine Price was truly a valued member of our organization and respected by so many,’ said Col. Amy Holbeck, 116th Air Control Wing commander, in a statement to 13WMAZ. ‘In the Georgia Guard, we are family and when we lose a member it is felt by everyone. We are working closely with Katherine’s family, friends and co-workers to provide much needed support during this time of loss and healing.’ Family members say the couple had been married for 11 years and were members of Fellowship Bible Baptist Church. The shooting left their neighborhood stunned with residents calling the pair a ‘power couple’. ‘We just have to keep praying for our community, because you never know what’s going on, sometimes even next door,’ Millicent Wooden who lives opposite the home, said to WGXA.
According to WDAM7, A Hattiesburg community is pulling together to help the family of a man killed by a Tuesday night plane crash. Gerry Standley died when a small civilian plane crashed into his Hattiesburg home on Annie Christie Drive in the Irene Chapel neighborhood, forever changing the lives of his family – his wife, daughter, and grandson who survived the crash. “Right now, my family is in a time of need, so we need all the help that we can get,” said Gerry’s niece, Charlisha Standley. Family and friends say Gerry was a pillar of the community. They’re responding to the tragedy with love. Charlisha helped organize a fish fry on Friday to raise money for her aunt and cousins. “Even though I am hurting, I’m still trying to do the best I can to help my family because we need it,” she said. Gerry’s younger brother, Cobrin Varnado, says the whole family is stepping up to help. He spoke lovingly of his brother. “We can’t replace him,” Varnado said. “We can’t do what he did, but his young brothers, his sons, his nephews, we can come together and uphold the family like he would. He was a remarkable man. I admire him so much just from his relationship with God, his relationship with his wife, his family. He connected with everyone. Everyone loved him, he loved everyone. It’s going to be tough to be without him.” On Wednesday night, Wayside Holy Temple held a private prayer vigil for the victims of the accident. Gerry was one of a few pastors at the church.
According to KKTV, A gunman opened fire during a birthday party early Sunday morning, leaving behind a horrific scene with more than half a dozen dead inside a mobile home. “Words fall short to describe the tragedy that took place this morning,” said Colorado Springs Police Chief Vince Niski. The party was being held at a home on Preakness Way inside the Canterbury Manufactured Home Community on the east side of the city. Police say the celebration was still in full swing at 12:40 a.m. when the boyfriend of one of the victims barged in with a gun and started shooting. “Friends, family, and children were gathered inside the trailer to celebrate when the shooting occurred,” police said. After he finished shooting at partygoers, the suspect took his own life. When police arrived, six people were dead and a seventh was gravely injured. “Officers … located multiple deceased parties,” said Lt. Jim Sokolik, a spokesperson with the Colorado Springs Police Department. The seventh victim later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The children in the trailer were not injured and are currently with relatives, police said. As they grapple with the devastating scene, detectives are now trying to figure out why the gunman drove himself to the party with a gun and started shooting.
According to NBC News, A woman and her young child were shot in broad daylight in Times Square late Saturday afternoon, according to multiple reports. The shooting took place at the intersection of W 44th Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan. Three law enforcement officials told NBC New York the victims were transported to Bellevue Hospital. The woman had a gunshot wound to the leg. NYPD did not indicate if they had any leads on the identity of the shooter at the time.
According to the Miami Herald, Miami-Dade Police lieutenant John Jenkins, who was also a top union official until he quit last week, was arrested on Friday on sexual battery charges. The Miami Herald reports that the alleged rape happened two weeks ago while Jenkins was in Palm Beach for a black tie police union gala at Trump National Jupiter Golf Club. The South Florida PBA said the incident didn’t take place on the Trump property but happened some time during the three-day event, which included golf and dinner at different locations. Jenkins was booked into Palm Beach County jail late Friday. No further details about the alleged rape were released.
According to Mission Network News, As COVID-19 vaccines continue to roll out worldwide, Christian ministries are leading the charge in certain countries. For example, Mission Aviation Fellowship serves remote villages in Lesotho, a small country completely surrounded by South Africa. Grant Strugnell, a pilot with MAF, has helped fly COVID-19 vaccines to clinics in Lesotho’s mountains and other hard-to-reach areas. “The majority of our flying in Lesotho is actually in partnership with the Lesotho government, and specifically the Lesotho Flying Doctor Service. So most of the flights that we do are, in some way, connected to the Department of Health and to the medical work that they’re doing in the country. “We’ve been really nicely positioned to very naturally…assist with the delivery of vaccines to some of the most remote places in Lesotho.” By reaching Lesotho’s remote communities with vaccine access, MAF is being the hands and feet of Jesus in the pandemic. Strugnell says, “We see one of our main missions here as directly meeting some of these physical needs. And we believe that is reflecting the Gospel in its own way — using the tools we’ve got [and] partnering with local Lesotho people here who are already doing the work. “Helping them in very tangible ways definitely does open doors for the Gospel.”
According to the Daily Mail, The Obamas have bid a sad farewell to their family pet Bo who passed away Saturday from cancer. The Portuguese Water Dog, a gift from the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, a key supporter of Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign who became close to the family. The dog was adopted by the First Family early in 2009 and joined them for both terms in the White House. Bo helped Obama keep a promise to daughters Malia and Sasha that they could get a dog after winning the election in 2008. On Saturday, the former president posted a series of pictures of his pet alongside a moving message describing Bo as a ‘true friend and loyal companion.’ ‘Today our family lost a true friend and loyal companion. For more than a decade, Bo was a constant, gentle presence in our lives—happy to see us on our good days, our bad days, and everyday in between. He tolerated all the fuss that came with being in the White House, had a big bark but no bite, loved to jump in the pool in the summer, was unflappable with children, lived for scraps around the dinner table, and had great hair. He was exactly what we needed and more than we ever expected. We will miss him dearly.’
