Bill Gates hires Warren Buffett’s 97-year-old lawyer pal, Charles T. Munger, in $130billion split from wife Melinda as it’s revealed there’s no prenup and 27-year marriage is ‘irretrievably broken’

Charles T Munger, a 97-year-old father-of-eight and the vice president of Warren Buffett’s holding company Berkshire Hathaway, is listed as one of the attorneys representing Gates in his divorce from wife Melinda, as the couple split after 27 years of marriage. As part of the team, Munger – himself worth $2.2billion – will help the Gates’ divvy up their huge $130billion estate which includes properties in five states, a huge art collection, sports cars and thousands of acres of farmland. Divorce papers filed by Melinda in Washington on Monday reveal the couple have no prenup, but have singed a ‘separation contract’ which lays out the basis on which their assets will be divided. The contract has not been made public. In the divorce filing, 56-year-old Melinda says her marriage to Bill, 61, is ‘irretrievably broken’ and asks for it to be dissolved. In a subsequent statement, the couple said they are ending their marriage because ‘we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple’ but that their philanthropic work – including on coronavirus treatments – will continue.
