WATCH: Franklin Graham Reflects on Declining Church Membership Among Americans

As Easter weekend approaches, a new Gallup poll shows fewer than 50% of Americans are members of a church.

“It’s a change,” said Franklin Graham, CEO of the charity Samaritan’s Purse. “There is a shift.”

Graham, who is the oldest son of the late Rev. Billy Graham, is aware younger generations have moved away from brick-and-mortar church attendance. While millions of Americans watch church services online, Graham thinks there’s an issue of sermon topics driving parishioners away from traditional churches.

“We see a lot of mainline denominations stepping away from God’s word. People just don’t want to go to church to hear a sermon on social issues,” Graham said.

Graham is a believer in modern science and recently posted his support for people to get vaccinated against COVID-19. He says faith and medicine can exist together.
