Candace Cameron Bure Says ‘Sex Needs to be Celebrated Within Marriage’ and ‘is Not to be Shameful’

Let’s talk about sex: Candace Cameron Bure, 44, says sex should be ‘celebrated as a Christian,’ as she strives to remove the taboo around intercourse and Christianity while opening up in an interview on Confessions of a Crappy Christian Podcast

America’s sweetheart Candace Cameron Bure is talking sex.

On a recent episode of Confessions of a Crappy Christian Podcast the 44-year-old actress talked to host Blake Guichet about sex and Christianity.

Aiming to remove the taboo surrounding intercourse and faith, Bure said: ‘[Sex] is something to be celebrated as a Christian.’

‘Sometimes there’s a skew about sex — within the Christian community — that I get really sad about,’ she said.

Married to husband Valeri Bure, 46, since 1996, the Fuller House star said, ‘Sex doesn’t stop once you get married,’ as she continued to break down others’ aversion to discussing sex.

Calling sex ‘the blessing of marriage,’ she continued, ‘I hate when Christians are like, ‘No! You have to pretend like you’ve never had sex,’ and ‘We only know that you’ve had sex three times because you’ve had three children’.’

‘If we are to promise ourselves for one another and preach saving yourself for marriage, then sex needs to be celebrated within marriage and it’s not to be shameful,’ Bure continued.

Having three children, Natasha, 22, Lev, 20, and Maksim, 18, Bure said that she has strived to give them a level of sex education she never had growing up, as she said she ‘didn’t know anything.’

‘I probably annoy my kids, again because I have talked about sex with them their whole lives. I just make it a part of everyday conversation,’ she said.

Not always so open about the touchy subject matter, Candace said she used to feel ashamed about her sexuality.

‘I lived in such a fear of like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m not supposed to be a sexual person because I have to save myself, God is going to think negatively of me if I’m having sex…’ she shared.

Speaking to Fox News in September after receiving backlash online for posting an Instagram photo of her husband cupping her breast, she got candid.

‘I love the fact that so many people had an opinion on it. It made me laugh because I wasn’t trying to make a statement,’ she explained.

‘This is just how my husband and I are. You know, we adore each other and we still have fun and we’re spicy together.’

She continued, ‘I always get bummed out when people have been married for so long and then I feel like the joke is always like, ‘oh, we’re married – so that means we don’t have sex anymore’.’
