It is Reported That Former Pastor Carl Lentz Posed as an Unmarried Sports Agent and Told the Muslim Woman He Committed Adultery With, New York City Designer Ranin, That He Was Not Married. She Says It Was ‘Love Not Just Sex’ and That They Only Broke Up Last Week. Ranin Said ‘I Have No Knowledge of the Christian World. I’m Muslim.’ So Sad

A New York City designer has claimed that she and Hillsong pastor, Carl Lentz, who baptized Justin Bieber, had a serious but secret relationship during which he told her he was an unmarried sports agent.

According to a report from the Sun, Ranin, 34, said she dated the megachurch pastor for more than five months before their breakup last week.

Lentz, the celebrity magnet of a pastor who brought the global megachurch Hillsong from Australia to the US, was fired on Wednesday after acknowledging on Instagram that he cheated on his wife, Laura.

Just days later, Ranin, who wished to keep her last name private, claimed that she wasn’t just a fling.

‘I wasn’t there for just sex, we both found comfort and a deep, special connection with each other. I am very hurt because we both feel the same way about each other,’ Ranin told the newspaper.

‘He loves me and I love him. It was a love relationship that wasn’t planned. It wasn’t just a fling or just a sexual relationship,’ Ranin said, adding that she is Muslim and had no knowledge of who Lentz was when she met him.

Ranin told the Sun: ‘He told me his name was Carl but that’s it, he wouldn’t tell me his last name. And he told me that his job was as a sports agent.’

Eventually, Ranin found out who Lentz was after she ‘had a feeling something was up’.

‘He didn’t tell me that he was married at first, he doesn’t wear a ring,’ Ranin said, adding that she asked him if he was married after a few dates and he confessed to her about his wife of 17 years.

Despite being exposed, they continued their affair until last week.

In his Instagram post that led to his ousting from Hillsong, Lentz wrote: ‘When you lead out of an empty place, you make choices that have real consequences. I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life and held accountable for that.’

Lentz and Laura, who met as students at Hillsong’s training college in Sydney, arrived in New York in 2010 to spread the church’s style of mass gatherings, a slick online reach and Grammy-winning Christian rock music throughout the US.

The church is popular among millennials and others.

The couple lives in Montclair, New Jersey. They married in 2003 and have three children.

Brian Houston, a global senior pastor and founder of Hillsong, said in a message to the church’s East Coast congregants Wednesday that Lentz was fired ‘following ongoing discussions in relationship to leadership issues and breaches of trust, plus a recent revelation of moral failures’.

Houston said it would ‘not be appropriate’ to share more details about the situation.

‘They have a heart for people and we are confident that after a time of rest and restoration, God will use Carl in another way outside of Hillsong church,’ the statement continued. ‘In terminating his tenure, we in no way want to diminish the good work he did here.

‘It would not be appropriate for us to go into detail about the events that led to this decision. Our focus at this time is to honor God and pastorally care for our East Coast church community as well as the Lentz family.

‘…While I have no doubt that this is the right course of action, I must mention Bobbie’s and my personal sadness, as we have known Laura her entire life and Carl for well over 20 years.’

Globally, more than 100,000 people attend weekly services at Hillsong in about 20 countries, including more than 10,000 at several locations in the US.

The church is known for its young, tattooed leaders like Lentz, who GQ magazine once dubbed as ‘hypepriests’ known for their designer clothes and ties to the stars.

Bieber once spent a month living with Lentz and his family at a time several years ago when trouble followed him around, from egging a neighbor’s house to urinating in a bucket and getting caught on video.

Lentz, 42, happily tells the story of how he baptized the pop star in the New York bathtub of NBA veteran Tyson Chandler in the middle of the night.

Lentz took full responsibility for his behavior leading to his split with Hillsong and said he’s now seeking to rebuild the trust of his family.

Just two days after Lentz was fired from Hillsong, his teen daughter, Ava, supported her father with a heartfelt birthday message.

The 16-year-old penned a message of support on Instagram on Friday, saying: ‘Happy birthday Dad. I love you. Best friend, strongest man, drippiest, music is fire, skinny jean legend, you’ve taught me everything I know!! Our family 4L we love you.’

Her mother, Laura, has yet to issue a public statement. Laura last uploaded a post to her Instagram on October 28, sharing an image of a ‘rhythms for life’ planner and journal, alongside which she commented: ‘2020 has been quite the year.’

But the couple were pictured together in New York City the day after the sensational sacking.

The father-of-three looked dejected as he sat on his $2,000 e-bike and fiddled with his diet coke and snack while Laura stood above him with her arms crossed.

At one point she seemed to fidget with her left hand, as her wedding ring could not be seen and it was unclear if she was still wearing it.

Just hours later, Lentz released his statement saying: ‘This failure is on me, and me alone and I take full responsibility for my actions.’

Lentz hinted that he and his wife will attempt to work through his infidelity, writing that he is focusing on ‘rebuilding trust’ with her and their children.

Carl Lentz’s Instagram statement in full
Our time at HillsongNYC has come to an end. This is a hard ending to what has been the most amazing, impacting and special chapter of our lives.

Leading this church has been an honor in every sense of the word and it is impossible to articulate how much we have loved and will always love the amazing people in this church. When you accept the calling of being a pastor, you must live in such a way that it honors the mandate. That it honors the church, and that it honors God.

When that does not happen, a change needs to be made and has been made in this case to ensure that standard is upheld.

Laura and I and our amazing children have given all that we have to serve and build this church and over the years I did not do an adequate job of protecting my own spirit, refilling my own soul and reaching out for the readily available help that is available.

When you lead out of an empty place, you make choices that have real and painful consequences. I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life and held accountable for that. This failure is on me, and me alone and I take full responsibility for my actions.

I now begin a journey of rebuilding trust with my wife, Laura and my children and taking real time to work on and heal my own life and seek out the help that I need. I am deeply sorry for breaking the trust of many people who we have loved serving and understand that this news can be very hard and confusing for people to hear and process.

I would have liked to say this with my voice, to you, in person because you are owed that. But that opportunity I will not have. So to those people, I pray you can forgive me and that over time I can live a life where trust is earned again.

To our pastors Brian and Bobbie, thank you for allowing us to lead, allowing us to thrive and giving us room to have a voice that you have never stifled or tried to silence. Thank you for your grace and kindness especially in this season, as you have done so much to protect and love us through this.

We, the Lentz family, don’t know what this next chapter will look like, but we will walk into it together very hopeful and grateful for the grace of God.

‘[I am] taking real time to work on and heal my own life and seek out the help that I need,’ he continued.

‘We, the Lentz family, don’t know what this next chapter will look like, but we will walk into it together very hopeful and grateful for the grace of God.’

The ex pastor, who was born in Virginia Beach, did not share any further details about his infidelity, only pointing to the fact that his behavior had not ‘honored the church… and God’.

‘When you accept the calling of being a pastor, you must live in such a way that it honors the mandate. That it honors the church, and that it honors God.

‘When that does not happen, a change needs to be made and has been made in this case to ensure that standard is upheld.’

It came as popular Instagram account Deux Moi posted an unconfirmed rumor that Lentz had been hooking up with a popular New York City-based podcaster.

When DailyMail.com contacted the woman referenced in the post asking for a comment on the alleged affair, she refused to comment on the matter.

The woman has written stories about Lentz, posted how she wanted to meet him and he also took a visit to her well-known company’s office in recent years. They both follow each other on Instagram. The woman also follows Lentz’s wife, but his wife does not follow her back.

In his letter sent to Hillsong East Coast members, which was obtained by Instagram account Deux Moi, Houston admitted that people may still have questions about Lentz’s dismissal, and urged them to email the megachurch’s leadership team with any queries.

‘But as sudden as this feels to us, we must remember that it’s not a shock to God, who birthed Hillsong NYC and already has planned for this time,’ he continued, before revealing that the church has not yet found a replacement for the fired pastor.

Houston added that this course of action was ‘not taken lightly and was done in the best interests of everyone, including Pastor Carl’.

In his official statement, Houston paid tribute to Lentz and his wife, noting that they have ‘served faithfully and sacrificially’.

Lentz first began working with Hillsong in Australia after relocating there from Los Angeles, where he spent time studying at The King’s College and Seminary.

The father-of-three rose quickly within Hillsong’s ranks and formed a close friendship with Houston and his son Joel while training at the church’s International Leadership College in Sydney.

In 2010, he moved back to the US in order to co-found the New York City chapter of Hillsong, which soon amassed a major celebrity following, with Lentz preaching to the likes of Bieber, Selena Gomez, Hailey Bieber, and several NBA stars including Carmelo Anthony, David Lee, Kevin Durant, and Jeremy Lin.

However it was Lentz’s close relationship with Bieber, now 26, that gained him the most notoriety, particularly after it was revealed that the popstar had been baptized by the pastor in 2014, and even moved in with Lentz and his wife for six weeks in the same year.

Speaking to GQ in 2015, Lentz – who first met Bieber in 2008, when the singer was just 14 – recalled the moment Bieber got down on his knees, ‘ravaged by loss’ and sobbed, telling the pastor: ‘I want to know Jesus’.

According to the magazine account, the baptism finished with Bieber ‘wet and sobbing against Pastor Carl’s chest… born anew’.

It played a central role in transforming Bieber’s image from a partying ladies man to a clean-cut Christian devotee.

His wife, Hailey Bieber, is also a believer, and the two are frequently spotted in church together.

In 2017, it was reported by People that Lentz had been enlisted by Bieber and his ex-girlfriend Gomez to offer spiritual guidance and counselling about their relationship after they briefly rekindled their romance.

Lentz’s celebrity connections and close friendship with Bieber have helped him to become something of a star in his own right, skyrocketing him to prominence on Instagram, where he boasts more than 679,000 followers.

Hillsong, which describes itself as a ‘contemporary Christian church’ was first founded by Houston in Australia in 1983, and it was originally known as the Hills Christian Life Centre.

The mega-church now boasts locations in 21 countries around the world, including the US, UK, Indonesia, and Israel. It has 28 locations across Australia in places like New South Wales, Queensland, and Tasmania.

Statement from Hillsong founder Brian Houston
Today Hillsong Church East Coast advised our congregation that we have terminated the employment of Pastor Carl Lentz. This action was not taken lightly and was done in the best interests of everyone, including Pastor Carl.

We thank Pastors Carl and Laura for the way they have served faithfully and sacrificially since the start of Hillsong NYC and for contributing so significantly to the countless lives that have been transformed for Jesus Christ through this ministry.

They have a heart for people and we are confident that after a time of rest and restoration, God will use Carl in another way outside of Hillsong church. In terminating his tenure, we in no way want to diminish the good work he did here.

This action has been taken following ongoing discussions in relation to leadership issues and breaches of trust, plus a recent revelation of moral failures.

It would not be appropriate for us to go into detail about the events that led to this decision. Our focus at this time is to honor God and pastorally care for our East Coast church community as well as the Lentz family.

While I have no doubt that this is the right course of action, I must mention Bobbie’s and my personal sadness, as we have known Laura her entire life and Carl for well over 20 years.

Hillsong East Coast services and all of our ministries will proceed as usual, and we will continue to be a place of hope, love and faith through the powerful and transforming message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is a message our nation and the world need to hear more than ever during a time of such instability and uncertainty.

I appreciate the great team of people who serve here, and as we embark on the process of selecting new leadership, we are praying that God would bring about an exciting new season for our church and this region.

Hillsong Church will not be making further public comments on this matter.

Justin Bieber’s pastor Carl Lentz was “in love” with a New York beauty in a secret affair that led to his firing from megachurch Hillsong, The Sun can exclusively report.

Ranin, a 34-year-old designer from New York City, spoke exclusively to The Sun about dating the married church leader for over five months before their emotional breakup just this week.

Ranin, whom wishes to keep her last name private, revealed to The Sun she wanted to tell her story so Carl’s followers know “there was another person on the other side of his statement that got hurt.”

She said his Instagram post about his firing was “offensive,” and made it seem like they “just had a fling.”

The stunning brunette said: “I wasn’t there for just sex, we both found comfort and a deep, special connection with each other. I am very hurt because we both feel the same way about each other.

“He loves me and I love him. It was a love relationship that wasn’t planned. It wasn’t just a fling or just a sexual relationship.”

She explained that the pair met in May at Domino Park in Brooklyn, New York, when he approached her to flirt and make small talk.

“I have no knowledge of the Christian world, I’m Muslim,” she said, insisting she initially had no idea that Carl was a famous celebrity pastor.

“He told me the most beautiful women come from the Middle East and we kept talking from there. We walked and talked more for a little bit and exchanged numbers.

“He told me his name was Carl but that’s it, he wouldn’t tell me his last name. And he told me that his job was as a sports agent,” Ranin claimed of his alleged secrecy regarding his occupation.

She claimed Carl, 42, refused to give his last name because he did not want to be “Googled” so she can “get to know him in person.”

The New Yorker continued: “He didn’t tell me that he was married at first, he doesn’t wear a ring. A few dates in, I had a feeling something was up so I asked him if he was married.

“And he admitted that yes, he had been for 17 years and has three kids.

“He texted me later that night and he said something like, ‘It was great getting to know you more. Sorry if you were bummed to find out I am married, I could tell you kind of were.’

“At this point, I still didn’t know who he really was. So I’m like ‘what’s going on?’

“So that day, using his phone number, I paid a website to do a search and I find all of this information about him and my mind was blown.”

Ranin said that she called Carl out and he came over to her place that night to explain himself with a bottle of their favorite alcohol, tequila.

“He said he had absolutely never strayed outside of his marriage before and was feeling guilty.

“But he told me that when he met me, God told him to tell me that I need to know my worth and there’s something special about me… whatever whatever,” she said of his reasoning.

Though his secret was exposed, they allegedly continued seeing each other and the stunning Egyptian and Palestinian actress admitted they began having sex early on into the affair, and would hang out “a few times a week” for several months.

She even alleged while Carl was with his wife of 17-years, Laura, on her birthday, he sent Ranin a message saying he “doesn’t know how to stop” their relationship.

The Sun has viewed emotional texts and video messages Carl sent to Ranin.

Due to the complexity of their situation, Ranin confessed to walking away from the now fired pastor “so many times,” as she “never intended” to start an affair.

She claimed she told him: “‘I wish I never met you at the park.’ I would tell him I want nothing to do with him but he would keep coming back despite me telling him to leave me alone.

“Every time I said I’m done, he would come back and pursue me. He was always the one who pursued me.

“And every time he messaged or called me and I didn’t answer, he would send even more messages and he would go crazy,” she claimed.

Ranin said that what they had was much more than just “hey come over, let’s f**k,” as they would “write novels to each other” and “FaceTime” when they weren’t together.

She said he also gave her personal items, such as his necklace, and created a “delusional relationship.”

“He would tell me I was a dream to him. He told me on the first day we met that I was everything he ever wanted in a woman,” she said of their steamy affair.

The preacher was a “mess,” according to Ranin, who added that he was “in a conflict with both sides” and “loved her but had a family and had to choose.”

Their relationship took an explosive turn last week after she claimed Carl’s wife saw all of their messages – including “naughty photos” – which were connected to his work computer at the church office while several other co-workers were also present.

After Ranin found out the affair was exposed, she said she spoke to Carl on the phone.

She claimed Justin Bieber’s pastor came over the next night to “say goodbye in person” – where they were allegedly intimate once again.

The tattooed stunner said: “He sat on my bed and kept repeating ‘My life is over. I’m going to lose my job. I don’t know if my wife is ever going to forgive me.’”

Though his wife and work found out about the relationship over a week ago, it was not revealed publicly that Carl was terminated until Wednesday.

One day later, the father of three shared on Instagram that infidelity was the reason he lost his job.

However, Ranin claimed that she did not “officially say goodbye” to Carl until Thursday.

She claimed of their tumultuous romance: “Yesterday, I told him that he’s living a lie and he will always be a liar. I told him he’s a selfish human being and a narcissist.

“But he assured me that he will always have love for me and everything he told me while we were together about his feelings for me was true and he hopes one day I can forgive him for all the pain he caused me.

“He told me yesterday that what we had, he had never had with anyone before.

“He said he had never had a deep, sexual connection like what we had.

“And he had never loved anyone outside of his marriage until me. He told me it was crazy that he lived these two lives, and he still doesn’t know how he was able to do that.”

She added Carl told her they are both “beautiful, broken people who found each other and collided” but “need help.”

Carl and his reps were not available for comment when contacted by The Sun.

Hillsong announced on Wednesday the famous Christian figure was no longer a member of the church due to “moral failures” and “breach of trust.”

In a statement posted one day later, Justin Bieber’s close pal admitted he was unfaithful but assured fans he was “building back trust in his marriage.”
