PODCAST: Likelihood of US-China War Considered to be Very High (Second Coming Watch Update #929 with Daniel Whyte III)

This is Daniel Whyte III with the Second Coming Watch Update. This is update #929. Let’s take a quick look at today’s prophecy-related headlines which point towards the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the end of the world as we know it.

First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to Zero Hedge, A top independent Australia-based think tank which regularly advises the Canberra government has produced a “risk assessment” studying the likelihood of America and China going to war. Involving defense experts around the world, the study was undertaken on the heels of the US sending two carrier strike groups to sail through the South China Sea in provocative “freedom of navigation” operations. Given that “normalization” with China — a longtime foreign policy emphasis which goes back to Nixon and Carter — appears to have gone out the window during this latter half of the Trump administration, there’s lately been much forecasting on the potential for the US and China to stumble into war. The new analysis deems that within the next three years a direct military conflict between the US and China ranges from “highly likely” to “almost certain”.

Second, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Voice of America News, Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab [HAA-SAAN DEE-AHB] said Tuesday that Israel had violated his country’s sovereignty with what he called a “dangerous military escalation” after Israeli and Hezbollah forces traded cross-border fire Monday. Diab [DEE-AHB] tweeted, “I call for caution in the coming days because I fear that things will get worse in light of severe tension at the border.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Hezbollah was “playing with fire” in comments shortly after Israel’s military said it thwarted an attempt by the militant group to sneak across the border. Netanyahu said, “Hezbollah and the state of Lebanon bear full responsibility for this incident and any attack that comes from Lebanese territory against the state of Israel. … Any attack against us will be answered with great force. Nasrallah already made a big mistake in estimating Israel’s determination to protect itself, and the state of Lebanon paid a heavy price for it. I recommend it not repeat that mistake.”

Third, today, under the Sign category of THE RISE OF GOG AND MAGOG — According to Reuters, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the Russian Navy would be armed with hypersonic nuclear strike weapons and underwater nuclear drones, which the defence ministry said were in their final phase of testing. Putin, who says he does not want an arms race, has often spoken of a new generation of Russian nuclear weapons that he says are unequalled and can hit almost anywhere in the world. Some Western experts have questioned how advanced they are. The weapons, some of which have yet to be deployed, include the Poseidon [POY-SAH-DON] underwater nuclear drone, designed to be carried by submarines, and the Tsirkon (Zircon) [ZIR-KON] hypersonic cruise missile, which can be deployed on surface ships. The combination of speed, manoeuvrability and altitude of hypersonic missiles, capable of travelling at more than five times the speed of sound, makes them difficult to track and intercept.

Fourth, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to Arab News, Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard launched underground ballistic missiles as part of an exercise involving a fake aircraft carrier in the Strait of Hormuz, the latest barrage in a drill that saw two American bases temporarily go on alert over the launches. According to the state TV report, drones separately targeted the bridge of the fake aircraft carrier. The TV did not immediately air footage of the launches or the drone attack, nor did it identify the missiles used in the drill. However, the message of the drill was clearly targeted at the United States. A semiofficial news agency close to the Guard published a graphic overnight that photoshopped the image of an American carrier into the shape of a casket, with a caption quoting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei pledging to seek revenge for the US drone strike that killed a top Iranian general in January.

Fifth, today, under the Sign category of THE MARK OF THE BEAST — According to Dnyuz, For several years now, the police and other authorities in China have been collecting across the country DNA samples from millions of men and boys who aren’t suspected of having committed any crime. In a report published by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute last month, it exposed the extent of the Chinese government’s program of genetic surveillance: It no longer is limited to Xinjiang [SHIN-JI-AHN], Tibet [TIH-BEHT] and other areas mostly populated by ethnic minorities the government represses; DNA collection — serving no apparent immediate need — has spread across the entire country. The report estimates that the authorities’ goal is to gather the DNA samples of 35 million to 70 million Chinese males. Matched against official family records, surveillance footage or witness statements in police reports, these samples will become a powerful tool for the Chinese authorities to track down a man or boy — or, failing that, a relative of his — for whatever reason they deem fit. The Chinese government denies the existence of any such program, but since the study’s publication, researchers have continued to uncover online scattered evidence revealing the program’s enormous scale, including government reports and official procurement orders for DNA kits and testing services.

The prophetic passage of Scripture that we are looking at today is Ezekiel 36-37. Ezekiel 36:20 reads: “And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the Lord, and are gone forth out of his land.”

Allow me to share with you some commentary on this passage from Exploring Bible Prophecy from Genesis to Revelation, by Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson.

These are the most theologically significant chapters in the entire section of Ezekiel dealing with Israel’s restoration, if not the entire book. They provide the major eschatological motifs of the prophecy and a synopsis of Ezekiel’s theology. From a theological perspective, the problem for Ezekiel, as well as the other prophets of the exile (Jeremiah and Daniel), was how to comfort a nation who had not only lost their land but also, as their captors boasted, their Lord. The people believed their subjugation by a foreign power symbolized the conquest of their inferior god by the victor’s superior deity. The theological conclusion was that the conquered people’s god was not strong enough to protect them from conquest, as Ezekiel 26:20 seems to suggest: “These are the people of the LORD; yet they have come out of His land.” But the more accurate covenantal background for this statement is the suzerain-vassal [SOO-ZER-AIN-VAH-SAL] treaty, an ancient Near-Eastern form of law code made between a sovereign (the suzerain [SOO-ZER-AIN]) and his subjects (the vassals [VAH-SAL]). The exile demonstrated, in accordance with this established basis for national relations, that as Israel’s suzerain [SOO-ZER-AIN], God was responsible to uphold the terms of His covenant by punishing Israel, His vassal [VAH-SAL], by exile for covenant violation.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at the prophetic passages of the Bible in our next broadcast / podcast.

Our Second Coming quote for today is from A. W. Tozer. He said, “This is the kind of age and hour when the Lord’s people should be so alert to the hope and promise of His coming that they should get up every morning just like a child on Christmas morning—eager and believing that it should be today!”

Let’s Pray

If you are not ready for the return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
