An Australian couple who run a building business have built a series of stunning ‘mini Hamptons-inspired homes’, after noticing a high demand for people requesting smaller off-grid properties to live a simpler life.
Kirsten and Dave York, from Mini Hamptons, said they knew they were onto something when they realised that people wanted to live in the middle of nowhere in smaller properties, but not necessarily compromise on style.
The result is countless stylish tiny houses that boast an on-trend ‘Hamptons’ exterior and luxury fixtures and fittings inside.
‘We wanted to challenge the perception that luxury living was reserved only for the wealthy and designed the mini Hamptons so that each inch of the compact home felt elegant with high-end finishes,’ Kirsten told FEMAIL.

‘Typically, we build beautiful residential homes for our clients, so we wanted to create an equally beautiful offering for the “small home” and “granny flat” market and provide a secondary dwelling solution that not only complimented but also raised the profile of the primary home.’
The Yorks have designed several ‘mini Hamptons’ properties – which range from a studio (priced at $112,500 + GST) to a three-bedroom home ($143,800 + GST).
Many of the tiny homes come with added luxe details, including tapware from The English Tap Company, Smeg appliances, Caestarstone counter tops, oak flooring, double glazing and full insulation.
‘We created mini Hamptons packages to cater to all those looking for luxury small-living situations,’ Kirsten explained.
‘You can get a studio, one bedder, two bedder, three bedder and then even a movable “mini me” home.’

Since dipping their toes into the tiny house market, Dave and Kirsten said they have no regrets.
‘It has been so exciting to be involved in the movement,’ Kirsten said.
‘It’s so great that Aussies are no longer wanting to be financial prisoners, paying off large mortgages which restrict them from travel or other luxuries, but they still get to live sustainably, stylishly and with less stress.’
Many of the people who purchase the mini Hamptons homes are first-home buyers, as well as elderly parents who want to live near their grandchildren and artists who want an ‘inspiring’ studio.
‘The difference between our tiny homes and other tiny homes is that these are the full package with all of the fundamentals,’ Kirsten said.
‘All you need to do with these is turn the keys in the door.’

For those worried about their environmental footprint, the good news is that the mini Hamptons home have been made with the eco-conscious in mind.
‘Each mini Hamptons exterior is constructed using sustainable, recyclable Colorbond steel and an eco-friendly hemp insulation within the walling system to ensure we are making a positive environmental print,’ Kirsten said.
The homes have also been designed to be entirely self-sufficient, so that the owners can operate off-grid and ‘make a positive impact on the world around them’.

‘There are so many benefits to living tiny,’ Kirsten added.
‘From financial freedom and flexibility to being able to achieve the dream of affording your own home without the baggage, so many people never go back.’
Once you have bought your tiny home, the structural elements, panels and furniture are loaded on to a truck and delivered to you, before being secured on your land.
This generally takes around five weeks in total.
