PODCAST: Cold War Between US and China Could Upset World Order (Second Coming Watch Update #924 with Daniel Whyte III)

This is Daniel Whyte III with the Second Coming Watch Update. This is update #924. Let’s take a quick look at today’s prophecy-related headlines which point towards the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the end of the world as we know it.

First, today, under the Sign category of WARS AND RUMOURS OF WARS — According to BBC News, according to influential economist Jeffrey Sachs, the deepening cold war between the US and China will be a bigger worry for the world than coronavirus. He said the world is headed for a period of “massive disruption without any leadership” in the aftermath of the pandemic. He warned that the divide between the two superpowers will exacerbate this. The Columbia University professor blamed the US administration for the hostilities between the two countries. “The US is a force for division, not for cooperation. It’s a force for trying to create a new cold war with China. If this takes hold – if that kind of approach is used, then we won’t go back to normal, indeed we will spiral into greater controversy and greater danger in fact.”

Second, today, under the Sign category of EARTHQUAKES IN DIVERS PLACES — According to The Weather Channel, The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said on Monday that it was monitoring Mount Kanlaon [KAN-LAH-ON] in Negros Occidental province after it recorded over 130 earthquakes since Sunday. The institute issued a statement reminding the public that Kanlaon [KAN-LAH-ON] Volcano remains on alert level 1, “which means that it is at an abnormal condition and has entered a period of unrest. The local government units and the public are strongly reminded that entry into the 4-km radius permanent danger zone must be strictly prohibited due to the further possibilities of sudden and hazardous steam-driven or phreatic eruptions.” The institute said that it has recorded 136 volcano-tectonic earthquakes—earthquakes caused by the movement of magma beneath the surface of the Earth—on the western flanks during the 24-hour observation period.

Third, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to BBC News, Saudi Arabia has banned international visitors from making the Islamic pilgrimage, or Hajj, this year in a bid to control coronavirus. Only a very limited number of people currently living in the kingdom may take part. An estimated two million people would otherwise have visited Mecca and Medina this summer for the annual gathering. There had been fears the Hajj might be cancelled altogether. In normal times the pilgrimage is one of the most significant moments in the Muslim religious calendar. But only citizens from countries around the world who are already resident in Saudi Arabia will be allowed to attend this year.

Fourth, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to Voice of America News, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has suspended unspecified military action against South Korea, an apparent reduction in tensions following weeks of threats from Pyongyang. According to the Korean Central News Agency, at a preliminary meeting of the ruling party’s central military commission, Kim ‘took stock of the prevailing situation and suspended the military action plans against the south’. It is not clear exactly what steps Kim suspended and whether that means North Korea will now end its escalating campaign of provocations toward the South. The moves surprised many in Seoul, where officials had been preparing for a possible extended downturn in relations.

Fifth, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to The Jerusalem Post, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi said despite its distance from Israel, Iran is the most dangerous country in the Middle East. Kohavi made the remark at a ceremony marking Strategy and Third-Circle Directorate, an entirely new position on the General Staff, which will focus principally on Israel’s fight against Iran. He said, “It’s made significant progress with its nuclear program, but the nuclear [threat] is no longer the only threat. Iran also possesses conventional weapons.” Kochavi added that while “it is located in the third circle, it is highly effective in influencing the first and second circle,” he was referring to financing terror groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria as well as Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip. Israel has warned repeatedly about Iran’s nuclear ambitions as well as aspirations of regional hegemony and has admitted to hundreds of airstrikes as part of its “war-between-wars” campaign to prevent the transfer of advanced weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon and the entrenchment of its forces in Syria where they could easily act against Israel.

The prophetic passage of Scripture that we are looking at today is Ezekiel 34. Ezekiel 34:11 reads: “For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.”

Allow me to share with you some commentary on this passage from Exploring Bible Prophecy from Genesis to Revelation, by Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson.

These sheep that are called “His sheep” constitute the remnant of Israel who will be delivered from the Tribulation and enter into the millennial kingdom to be joined by the righteous Gentiles from the nations. Jesus explained that the true Shepherd was one that would seek out even one lost sheep in order to return it to the fold. In John 10:16 Jesus proclaimed His commitment to His sheep (Israel) and to the “other sheep” (Gentiles), whom He as the Good Shepherd would gather and guard.

The purpose of the Lord’s shepherding activity is to reverse the conditions Israel has endured under the false shepherds. Thus, when Christ returns He will undo all the damage the false Christs have done during the Tribulation, and especially the scattering and suffering experienced as a result of the greatest of these–the first beast, or the Antichrist. The Antichrist will attempt to supplant the role of Christ with Israel by conquering the nations, making a covenant of peace with Israel, building the third temple, and assuming the place of divinity within it. The second beast, the false prophet, may be Jewish and may claim messianic status. According to Ezekiel 34:16 the Lord will destroy these false shepherds and “feed them with judgment.” Indeed, Revelation 19:20 states that at His second coming Christ will judge the Tribulation’s false shepherds by casting the beast and the false prophet into the lake of fire.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at the prophetic passages of the Bible in our next broadcast / podcast.

Our Second Coming quote for today is from J. C. Ryle. He said, “I can only say, that I am more and more convinced, as I grow older — that to keep our eyes steadily fixed on the second coming of Christ is one great secret of Christian peace.”

Let’s Pray

If you are not ready for the return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
