BET Founder Robert Johnson says Black People ‘Laugh’ at White People Pulling Down Confederate Statues because It Won’t ‘Close the Labor Gap’ – as Trump Prepares to Use US Marshals to Defend Monuments

BET founder Robert Johnson said tearing down statues across America and canceling TV shows achieves ‘nothing’ in the fight for racial equality. Such efforts are ‘tantamount to rearranging the deck chairs on a racial Titanic,’ he told Fox News Wednesday. It won’t close the ‘wealth gap’ between white people and black people, he said, adding that these actions are simply being done by white people to ‘assuage their guilt’ and they should instead ‘ask us what we think first’. Calls have been mounting to take down racist and Confederate statues amid protests demanding an end to systemic racism and protesters have toppled a number of monuments across the country. President Trump has now put US Marshals on standby to help protect monuments, according to an email directive seen by The Washington Post.
