PODCAST: How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 5 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #686 with Daniel Whyte III)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #686.

My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ gave them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the Coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to a Johns Hopkins University tally, the global death toll attributed to the novel coronavirus hit 436,306 early Tuesday. In the three months since the virus was first identified in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], China, it has infected at least 8,014,554 people worldwide.

Second, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to The Jerusalem Post, Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of the IAEA’s Board of Governors, Director-General Rafael Grossi ratcheted up the pressure on the Islamic Republic for failing to grant his inspectors access to two nuclear facilities and failing to clarify undeclared nuclear material which the inspectors discovered last year. He said, “I note with serious concern that, for over four months, Iran has denied us access to two locations and that, for almost a year, it has not engaged in substantive discussions to clarify our questions related to possible undeclared nuclear material and nuclear-related activities. This is adversely affecting the Agency’s ability to resolve the questions and to provide credible assurance of the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities at these locations in Iran.” Moreover, Grossi said, “I call on Iran to cooperate immediately and fully with the Agency, including by providing prompt access to the locations specified by us.”

Third, today, under the Sign category of ARAB HOSTILITY TOWARD ISRAEL — According to Ynet News, Tens of thousands of racial justice protesters took to the streets Paris, some of whom were heard chanting anti-Israel and anti-Jewish slogans as well as holding up signs criticizing Israeli government. Some protesters at the Paris rally were seen holding up banners, reading, “Israel, laboratory of police violence,” and waving Palestinian flags. Some were shouting racial slurs such as “dirty Jews.” The demonstrations across France started following similar protests in the United States against racial injustice and police brutality.

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 5” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

All but two of Paul’s epistles refer to the second coming. He alluded to it obliquely in Romans 11:26 and in 14:10, where he talks about the judgment seat of Christ. That judgment is described in detail in 1 Corinthians 3:9-15. Then in 1 Corinthians 15 Paul describes the resurrection of the body and gives details of the rapture. He also refers to some of these same second-coming truths in 2 Corinthians 1:14 and 5:10. Galatians, which offers a deep discussion on the finished work of Christ on the cross, does not contain a clear reference to the second coming, though an allusion to the event appears in 1:4. Ephesians presents the Christian “in the heavenly places,” and “the day of redemption” can only mean the day of deliverance through Christ’s return. Philippians contains several references to the Lord’s coming, the best of which is Philippians 3:20-21:

Our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

A thrilling promise appears in Colossians: “When Christ who is our life appears, then you will also appear with Him in glory”.

Like 1 and 2 Thessalonians, the epistles to Timothy provide many references to the second coming of Christ. Second Timothy 1:10 and 4:1,8 refer to “the appearing” and “His appearing.”

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. It is a collection of what he called “prophetic tracts” that focus on the believer’s duty in light of the signs which point to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

This section is titled, “Idolatry to be Destroyed at Christ’s Coming” (Part 18). J.C. Ryle writes:

They tell us, that the reverence which the Romish Church gives to saints and images does not amount to idolatry. They inform us, that there are distinctions between “latria” and “dulia,” between a mediation of redemption, and a mediation of intercession, which clear her of the charge. My answer is, that the Bible knows nothing of such distinctions; and that, in the actual practice of the great bulk of Roman Catholics, they have no existence at all.

They tell us, that it is a mistake to suppose that Roman Catholics really worship the images and pictures before which they perform acts of adoration; that they only use them as helps to devotion, and in reality look far beyond them. My answer is, that many a heathen could say just as much for his idolatry;–that it is notorious, in former days, they did say so;–and that in Hindostan many idol-worshippers do say so at the present day. But the apology does not avail. The terms of the second commandment are too stringent. It prohibits bowing down, as well as worshipping. And the very anxiety which the Church of Rome has often displayed to exclude that second commandment from her catechisms, is of itself a great fact which speaks volumes to a candid observer.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

If you are not ready for the Return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…” Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
