This is Daniel Whyte III with the Second Coming Watch Update. This is update #922. Let’s take a quick look at today’s prophecy-related headlines which point towards the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the end of the world as we know it.
First, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Israel National News, The Hamas organization on Monday warned of the consequences of Israel applying sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria as part of the US administration’s “Deal of the Century” peace initiative. A statement issued by Hamas’ “Jerusalem department” said that the implementation of the annexation plan and causing harm to the Al-Aqsa mosque would result in an outbreak of an intifada against the “occupation.” Hamas called on Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas to renounce the Oslo Accords and its political, economic and military commitments and to devise a plan to fight all together with all the Palestinian Arab organizations.
Second, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to The Washington Post, Texas, Arkansas, South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona, North Carolina, Oregon, Florida and Utah all set new highs in seven-day rolling case averages Wednesday. Montana, Arkansas, Utah, Arizona and Texas have all seen coronavirus hospitalizations rise by at least 35 percent in the weeks since Memorial Day. Some states are pressing forward with reopening even as local officials point to data that suggests an increase, not a reduction, in the risk of transmission. The uptick may not directly correlate to reopenings in all states, as more robust testing or other localized factors could play a part. Officials have also expressed concern that the virus could have spread among thousands of people protesting against police brutality, but experts said it is too early to determine the impact on case numbers.
Third, today, under the Sign category of RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF ISRAEL — According to Prophecy News Watch, In a time of darkness, a time of pandemic, pandemonium and power struggles, a thin ray of light can be seen in the Jewish world. The results are in: In May, the number of North Americans applying to make aliyah was double what it was last year at this time (814 vs. 424). In fact, last month was the biggest ever in the 19-year history of Nefesh B’Nefesh [NEH-FESH BEH-NEH-FESH], the nonprofit that with the help of Israel’s government and the Jewish Agency for Israel has already shepherded some 60,000 North American Jews to new homes in Israel. Marc Rosenberg, Nefesh [NEH-FESH] vice president for Diaspora partnerships, said, “We’ve seen small bumps, but nothing like this. What we saw this past month is absolutely remarkable. And while they may not be major numbers, they are major increases.”
Fourth, today, under the Sign category of EARTHQUAKES IN DIVERS PLACES — According to The Jerusalem Post, A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Fars province in southern Iran on Tuesday, the official IRNA news agency reported. The 5.7-magnitude quake is the second tremor felt by the area on Tuesday. A 5.1-magnitude tremor hit the same region about one hour earlier. There was no immediate information about possible casualties or damage from the quake, which hit near the town of Beyram [BEY-RAM].
Fifth, today, under the Sign category of FAMINES — According to The Guardian, The world stands on the brink of a food crisis worse than any seen for at least 50 years. UN secretary general António Guterres said better social protections for poor people are urgently needed as the looming recession following the coronavirus pandemic may put basic nutrition beyond their reach. He said, “Unless immediate action is taken, it is increasingly clear that there is an impending global food emergency that could have long-term impacts on hundreds of millions of children and adults. We need to act now to avoid the worst impacts of our efforts to control the pandemic. Even in countries with abundant food, we see risks of disruption in the food supply chain.” About 50 million people risk falling into extreme poverty this year owing to the pandemic, but the long-term effects will be even worse, as poor nutrition in childhood causes lifelong suffering.
The prophetic passage of Scripture that we are looking at today is Ezekiel 34. Ezekiel 34:4 reads: “The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.”
Allow me to share with you some commentary on this passage from Exploring Bible Prophecy from Genesis to Revelation, by Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson.
Ezekiel’s indictment is against the scandalous history of wicked kings in Israel and Judah who ruled at the expense of the nation. One example is the Israelite king Ahab, who murdered Naboth in order to steal his family’s vineyard. Shortly after this event the prophet Micaiah addressed Ahab and prophesied Israel as “scattered on the mountains like sheep which have no shepherd”. In Judah, King Manasseh “filled Jerusalem with very much innocent blood” and seduced the people of Israel “to do more evil than the nations whom the Lord destroyed”, thus sealing the divine judgment of Judah.
Ezekiel’s indictment also singles out the neglect of social justice and welfare, which are the duty of a righteous ruler. These rulers abandoned the weakest and neediest members of the community, a clear transgression of the Mosaic Covenant. The final fulfillment of this will be Christ’s rescue of national Israel from the armies of the Antichrist in the campaigns of Armageddon. In both these texts the divine deliverance is demonstrated by a declaration that the Lord’s sovereign rule is replacing that of the wicked rulers.
If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at the prophetic passages of the Bible in our next broadcast / podcast.
Our Second Coming quote for today is from George Sweeting. He said, “The word hope in Scripture is a term of certainty. To say that we hope for the return of the Lord is not to say that we are uncertain about His coming. His coming for His own is certain.”
If you are not ready for the return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how.
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”
Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
