Police officers and protesters started gathering Wednesday outside the police precinct over the death of George Floyd, after white cop Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for eight minutes before he died in custody (right). Flowers and photos were laid outside the Cups Food deli where the incident unfolded Monday to pay homage to the man who family members have said was ‘everyone’s favorite person’. Tuesday’s protest descended into chaos when cops hurled tear gas canisters into the crowds and demonstrators were seen desperately fleeing the hail of rubber bullets raining down on them. An incident report from the Minneapolis Fire Department Wednesday reveals medics arrived at the scene of Floyd’s arrest to find him ‘unresponsive, pulseless’. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has said he felt ‘physically ill’ over Floyd’s death and insisted there will be ‘justice’. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said an investigation is underway and echoed similarities drawn between the case and the death of unarmed black man Eric Garner but said ‘unlike the Eric Garner case we will not wait years for action’.
