PODCAST: Taking Prophecy Seriously, Part 2 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #671 with Daniel Whyte III)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #671.

My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ gave them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the Coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to Breaking Israel News, After failed talks with Russian officials over the intensifying military conflict in Syria, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyib Erdogan issued his “final warnings” to Moscow. Erdogan said, “We are making our final warnings. We did not reach the desired results in our talks with Russia. A Turkish offensive in Idlib is only a matter of time.” On Thursday, Turkish troops with heavy weapons entered northern Idlib while Turkish artillery shelled Syrian army positions. The Russian air force came to the aid of the Syrian army, bombing Turkish positions in the region. Fifty Syrian soldiers and members of Iranian-backed Shiite militias were killed in the battle and Turkey lost two soldiers. The Turkish military and their Islamist rebel allies also destroyed five tanks and four armored vehicles belonging to the pro-Assad troops.

Second, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to the New York Post, a World Health Organization expert said the deadly coronavirus is looking a lot like the theoretical “Disease X” that officials have long warned could spark a dangerous pandemic. Marion Koopmans, a member of WHO’s emergency committee, said the virus is the first to meet the criteria of the so-called “Disease X” — defined as a quick-spreading and unpredictable illness caused by a previously unknown pathogen. The new virus, now identified as COVID-19, has spread beyond China to more than 80,000 people in almost three dozen countries and territories — since December. WHO gave the name “Disease X” in 2017 to “a serious international epidemic caused by a pathogen currently unknown.” The not-yet-identified illness was added to a list of nine diseases with the capability to cause a global health crisis.

Third, today, under the Sign category of EARTHQUAKES IN DIVERS PLACES — According to Breaking Israel News, A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck the Turkey-Iran border region early Sunday morning at a very shallow depth of 3 miles and affected at least 43 villages in Turkey and in Iran. At least eight people were killed and 37 more injured. Many more are believed to be still buried under an estimated 1,066 collapsed buildings. The earthquake was followed by three aftershocks between magnitude-4.1 and magnitude-4.4 and eleven hours later by an even larger 6.0 aftershock. The earthquake was also widely felt in Iran and 51 people were reportedly injured in the quake. Iran and Turkey sit on top of a major fault line between the Arabian and Eurasian tectonic plates and are among the most earthquake-prone countries in the world.

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “Taking Prophecy Seriously, Part 2” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

In past centuries, when Christians talked about the end of the world, people often laughed at them because they could not conceive of the entire planet being destroyed. But today, both Christians and skeptics realize that such destruction is well within the realm of possibility.

The Bible warns us that the “day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night”. It will be an instantaneous event that will catch the world unprepared. In fact, the Bible reminds us that people will promise, “‘Peace, peace!’ when there is no peace”.

People have consistently demonstrated that they cannot bring a permanent and lasting peace to this world. Every human effort at peace has been short-lived and destined to failure. At the end of time, when the stakes are the highest, the greatest gamble ever made for peace will end in the greatest battle of all time–at Armageddon.

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. It is a collection of what he called “prophetic tracts” that focus on the believer’s duty in light of the signs which point to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

This section is titled, “Idolatry to be Destroyed at Christ’s Coming” (Part 4). J.C. Ryle writes:

I ask you to mark this, my brethren. I ask you to dismiss from your minds those loose ideas about idolatry, which are common in this day. Think not, as many do, that there are only two sorts of idolatry–the spiritual idolatry of the man who loves his wife or child or money more than God; and the open, gross idolatry of the man who bows down to an image of wood, or metal, or stone, because he knows no better. Depend upon it, idolatry is a sin that occupies a far, far wider field than this. It is not merely a thing in Hindostan, that you may hear of and pity at missionary meetings; nor yet is it a thing confined to your own heart, that you may confess before the mercy-seat upon your knees. It is a pestilence that walks in the Church of Christ to a much greater extent than many of you suppose. It is an evil that, like the Man of sin, “sits in the very temple of God.” It is a sin that we all need to watch and pray against continually. It creeps into our religious worship insensibly, and is upon us before we are aware. Those are tremendous words which Isaiah spoke to the formal Jew–not to the worshipper of Baal, remember, but to the man who actually came to the temple: “He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense as if he blessed an idol.”

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

CLOSING PRAYER
…….

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

If you are not ready for the Return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…” Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
