Popular Christian figures have taken to their social media handles to honour the memory of the late Lois Evans, wife of Pastor Tony Evans, the senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas, Texas.
Lois Evans passed away on the 30th of December after battling a rare form of cancer.
Her husband revealed she was surrounded by family when she “transitioned from earth and watched her first sunrise from Heaven”.
“I had the privilege of holding her hand as she was lulled into eternity. Our four children surrounded her as well. As she slipped away, we told her how much we love her, how proud we are of her, and how thankful we are for the life she has lived”, he wrote.
Many Christian celebrities, some of whom had a personal relationship with her, have mourned her on social media. Here are Bishop T.D. Jakes and Serita Jakes’s online tributes:
Here in Dallas, we awoke this morning to the sad loss of one of the highly esteemed matriarchs of our community. Mrs. Lois Evans is not dead, but has fallen asleep in the arms of Jesus. Undoubtedly, the body of Christ has to sadly wave our final farewells to this exemplary daughter of the King.
Although our hearts are saddened, and we empathize with the Evans family, we know that she did not leave unescorted. We believe the angels transported her to our Heavenly Father, where she rests safely from disease and turmoil. She left us with the blessed hope of the believer; the reunification of the family of God. We aim to join her one day beyond this dark night, ascending to the prepared place where the glow of Christ’s face will be the only light we need!
A special prayer goes out to her beloved and revered husband, @DrTonyEvans, and each of their gifted, yet grieving children. To the entire Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church, our prayers embrace your pain in this moment of profound loss.
Lois served as Senior Vice President and was founder of Pastors’ Wives Ministry. She was also co-founder and senior vice president of The Urban Alternative — a Christian broadcast and teaching ministry that reaches an audience of 2 million listeners on more than 1,200 radio stations in over 130 different countries — which she and her husband launched in 1982.
