Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #664.
My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.
First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.
The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ gave them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the Coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to The Jerusalem Post, IRGC Quds [KUDS] Force commander Qasem Soleimani [KAH-SEM SO-LEH-MAH-NEE] and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis [AH-BUU MAH-DEE AL-MUU-HAHN-DEEZ], along with at least 10 other people, were killed in an attack by US forces in Baghdad. In a statement, the Pentagon said that the US killed Soleimani [SO-LEH-MAH-NEE] and Muhandis [MUU-HAHN-DEEZ] in an airstrike inside Baghdad International Airport. The Pentagon’s statement read: “At the direction of the President, the US military has taken decisive defensive action to protect US personnel abroad by killing Qasem Soleimani [KAH-SEM SO-LEH-MAH-NEE], the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds [KUDS] Force, a US-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization.” According to the Pentagon, Soleimani [SO-LEH-MAH-NEE] was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region. The US embassy in Baghdad urged American citizens to leave Iraq immediately. Dozens of foreign oil company employees with US citizenship in Iraq headed to Basra [BAS-RAH] Airport for evacuation. The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces spokesperson claimed that Israel was also behind the attack, although Israel has made no such statement. Shi’ite Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) described the attack on its Facebook page as a “cowardly US bombing.” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on Friday that harsh revenge awaits the “criminals” who killed Soleimani [SO-LEH-MAH-NEE], and that the attack will double the motivation of the resistance against the US and Israel. IRGC spokesman Ramezan Sharif [RAH-MEH-ZAHN SHAH-REEF] warned: “The Revolutionary Guards, the wise Iranian nation and the resistance front across the geographical expanse of the Muslim nation will avenge the blood of this martyr. The joy of the Zionists and Americans will in no time turn into mourning.”
Second, today, under the Sign category of EARTHQUAKES IN DIVERS PLACES — According to Voice of America News, An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 shook northeastern Iran, but there was little damage and no casualties. The quake was centered on an area near Sangan [SAN-GAHN], a town of about 10,000 people near the border with Afghanistan, at a shallow depth of 8 km. Morteza Salimi [MOR-TEH-ZAH SAH-LEE-MEE], head of rescue at Iran’s Red Crescent, said: “Our near-final report is that about 14 villages have had very limited damage. There are no casualties and most of the damage is walls collapsing in places where livestock is kept.” Crisscrossed by major fault lines, Iran is one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world. In 2003, a magnitude 6.6 quake in southeastern Kerman [KERR-MAN] province killed 31,000 people and flattened the ancient city of Bam.
Third, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to The Associated Press, local authorities said the mysterious respiratory illness that has infected dozens of people in a central Chinese city is not SARS [SAARZ]. The 2002-2003 SARS [SAARZ] epidemic started in southern China and killed more than 700 people in mainland China, Hong Kong and elsewhere. Fears of a SARS [SAARZ] recurrence arose this month after a slate of patients were hospitalized with an unexplained viral pneumonia in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], the capital of Hubei [HOO-BAY] province. 59 people were diagnosed with the condition and have been isolated while they receive treatment, according to the Wuhan [WOO-HAHN] Municipal Health Commission. Seven were in critical condition, while the rest were stable. The commission said in a statement that initial investigations have ruled out SARS [SAARZ]— severe acute respiratory syndrome — as well as Middle East respiratory syndrome, influenza, bird flu and adenovirus. The commission previously said the condition’s most common symptom was fever, with shortness of breath and lung infections appearing in a “small number” of cases. There were no clear indications of human-to-human transmission.
Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.
Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.
Our topic for today is titled “Why Christians Should Study Bible Prophecy, Part 3” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”
Prophecy motivates evangelism. When we clearly see that Christ will return at any moment, we are motivated to share the gospel with those who have yet to believe in Him.
Prophecy also motivates holy living by believers. One tool the Holy Spirit uses to encourage Christians to live pure lives is the study of unfulfilled prophecy, especially where the Bible speaks of Christ’s soon return. As 1 John 3:3 notes, “Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”
Prophecy offers hope in times of despair. We live in a world where much evil occurs. We may endure broken relationships, problems with our finances or careers, or other frustrations regarding the injustice or sin in the world around us. Yet Scripture confidently speaks of our future hope and eternal joy with Christ.
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
This great hope Christ gave to His disciples can inspire our lives still today. Only a study of the Bible’s unfulfilled prophecies can change our hearts in all of these unique ways that help us honor God and bring glory to Him now and in eternity.
Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.
In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.
Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. It is a collection of what he called “prophetic tracts” that focus on the believer’s duty in light of the signs which point to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
This section is titled, “What Time Is It?” (Part 24). J.C. Ryle writes:
You ought to aim at every grace and habit which becomes a believer in Christ, and a child of God, and a citizen of a heavenly kingdom. You ought not to leave eminent holiness and spirituality to a few, as if none but a few favoured ones could be eminent saints. You ought to labour to wear the armour of light yourself, the girdle of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of hope, and the sword of the Spirit. Wherever you may live, and whatever may be your trials,–however great your difficulties, and however small your helps,–nothing should prevent your aiming at the highest standard, to behave like one who believes that Christ is coming again.
You should resolve, by God’s help, so to live, that the day of Christ shall find you needing as little change as possible. You should seek to have tastes so heavenly,–affections so spiritual,–a will so subdued,–a mind so unworldly, that when the Lord appears you may be thoroughly in tune for His kingdom. Verily it was a fine saying of Dr. Preston, on his death-bed, “I go to change my place but not my company.”
Ah! I fear that some believers will be far less ready for the day of Christ than others. I suspect that some will have a far more abundant entrance into heaven than their brethren,–more boldness, more confidence, more felt readiness for the company of their Lord. Oh! that every one into whose hands this address may fall, may so walk with God, that like Enoch he may be only translated from a lower degree of communion to a higher,–from walking by faith to walking by sight. This would be putting on the armour of light.
If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.
Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
If you are not ready for the Return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how:
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…” Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.
Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
