PODCAST: Why Christians Should Study Bible Prophecy, Part 1 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #662 with Daniel Whyte III)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #662.

My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ gave them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the Coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, today, under the Sign category of HOSTILITY TOWARD ISRAEL — According to The Jerusalem Post, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the cabinet at the start of its weekly meeting that Israel plans to push back against the “absurd” decision by the International Criminal Court: to turn the right of Jews to live in biblical Israel into a war crime, while ignoring the human rights abuses of countries like Iran, Syria and Turkey. Netanyahu said the ICC “finally became a weapon in the political war against the State of Israel.” He spoke just two days after ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda [FAH-TOO BEHN-SOO-DAH] said that she believed war crimes had occurred in Gaza, the West Bank and east Jerusalem. She plans to open an investigation into human rights abuses by Israelis and Palestinians in those territories. Netanyahu said that the “prosecutor’s decision contradicts historical truth. It opposes the right of the Jews to settle in the Jews’ homeland. To turn the fact that Jews are living in their land into a war crime is an absurdity of unimaginable proportions.” The prime minister said Israel will fight for its right and its historical truth with all the tools it has.

Second, today, under the Sign category of MOVEMENT TOWARD A ONE-WORLD RELIGION — According to Now the End Begins News, At the invitation of the World Jewish Congress, members of the Catholic clergy, Jewish communities and youth movements, and several rectors of Pontifical Universities in Rome gathered at the Pontifical Gregorian University. WJC President Ronald Lauder, and His Eminence Miguel Ayuso, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, addressed the Conference entitled Human Fraternity: A Reflection for Common Coexistence. Lauder told his audience that the 21st century is one that has brought many blessings: economic progress, fewer wars and less poverty. It has also produced a daunting challenge, he said. The escalation of technical progress has been accompanied by a spiritual crisis that the world’s religions have not been able to address. There is “less understanding, less tolerance, less sensitivity and less empathy” he said, and the persecution of minorities goes hand in hand with terrorism. Lauder said, “This darkness has been pierced by the ray of light that is the Document on Human Fraternity” signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar [AL-AH-ZHAR] on 4th February this year. He said this document is a “defining international document, that we Jews deeply respect…and endorse”. He likened it to a “spring of water in the desert”, heralding the “adoption of a culture of dialogue as the path, and mutual cooperation as the code of conduct”. Cardinal Ayuso defined the Document on Human Fraternity as a “milestone on the path of interreligious dialogue”. But he stressed, it is also a point of departure. It promotes the movement from meeting face to face to working “shoulder to shoulder, side by side” in the promotion of peace in the world. He said, this peace can be constructed by the daily commitment of all people of good will, believers as well as non-believers, to “contribute to the common good…to heal a wounded world”.

Third, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Breaking Israel News, The IDF hit several military targets in Gaza overnight in response to two separate rocket attacks from Gaza. A rocket fired from Gaza toward Sderot was intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system. A few hours after the rocket attack, the IDF struck a site they identified as “a Hamas weapons manufacturing site.” Also that night, the Israeli Air Force opened fire at an armed terrorist who approached the border in the southern Gaza Strip, near Khan Yunis [YOU-NIHS]. The military said the Palestinian was spotted by IDF observation posts as he neared the security fence in southern Gaza. After another rocket was fired at Israel from Gaza, the Israeli Air Force carried out an airstrike against a Hamas weapons manufacturing site in the northern Gaza Strip. A Hamas naval military post in the northern Gaza Strip was also destroyed. In response to the rocket fire, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories announced that the fishing zone in the Gaza Strip will be reduced to ten nautical miles until further notice.

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “Why Christians Should Study Bible Prophecy, Part 1” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

God has given three important signs that He is supernatural. First, He has given us creation. Second, He has revealed Himself to us through Jesus Christ. Third, He has provided written revelation concerning Himself in the Bible.

Creation provides clear evidence that God exists. It is impossible to find order in disorder. A growing body of scientific evidence supports a single origin of all space, time, and matter that is consistent with the biblical teaching of the eternal God as Creator of all things. All creation testifies that a God of creative design is behind this universe, including the earth and all people.

Jesus Christ is evidence of both God’s existence and His unmatched love for all people. God sent His only Son Jesus into this world not only to identify with us but also to die on our behalf so God could forgive our sins and we could enjoy eternity with Him forever.

Yet the most detailed revelation available to us today is the Bible. Creation is limited; it cannot show us God’s love or directions for living. Jesus is God in human form, yet His teachings depended on the Word of God. The written revelation in the Bible provides the information we need in order to know and obey His will. In fact, we would know very little about Christ if the Bible did not exist.

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. It is a collection of what he called “prophetic tracts” that focus on the believer’s duty in light of the signs which point to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

This section is titled, “What Time Is It?” (Part 22). J.C. Ryle writes:

Does not the Apostle Paul say to the Philippians, “Let your moderation be known unto all men: the Lord is at hand.” Does he not say to the Colossians, “Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life shall appear then shall ye also appear with Him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth.” Does not he bid the Hebrews to “Exhort one another, and so much the more as ye see the day approaching.” Does not St. Peter say, “We look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore beloved seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace without spot and blameless.” These texts appear to me to speak with no uncertain voice. I know not how their force can be evaded. They make the coming of Christ, and the day of glory, an argument for increased holiness. And it is just in the same way that St. Paul says, “Let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.”

How are you to “cast off the works of darkness?” Listen to me and I will tell you.

You ought to lay aside everything in your life and habits which will not bear the light of Christ’s appearing. You ought to make it a principle of conscience to do nothing you would not like to be found doing when Jesus comes again to gather His people together.

This is a searching test indeed. The application of it must be left to every man’s own heart. Each must judge for himself. Each must prove his own works. Each must set up an assize within him, and honestly bring his ways to a trial. Oh! for a will to deal fairly and justly with ourselves! Oh! for a daily readiness to judge ourselves that we be not judged of the Lord, and to condemn ourselves that we be not condemned at the last day!

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

If you are not ready for the Return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…” Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
