There’s a Devil Loose: North Carolina Mother Fatally Shoots Adult Daughter on Thanksgiving Day

Police say violence erupted on Thanksgiving Day in a North Carolina apartment when a mother shot and killed her daughter.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a news release that officers were called to the apartment shortly before 10pm on Thursday.

There they found a woman with a gunshot wound who was transported to the hospital.

The woman, identified as 37-year-old Chante Lavarche Alexander, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A police news release said the woman’s mother, 56-year-old Elvira Elizabeth Alexander, has been charged with murder and possession of a stolen firearm.

The shooting took place at an apartment in east Charlotte sometime around 10pm on Thanksgiving

Investigators described the crime as ‘domestic related,’ WBTV-TV reported.

A police spokesman said he didn’t know whether the suspect has a lawyer who can speak on her behalf.

On Alexander’s Facebook page, friends expressed shock over the death of a woman they described as a fun-loving person who liked to socialize.

One of her cousins wrote: ‘I love U Cuz Chante Lavarche Tha life of EVERY mf party FACTS!!’

After hearing of Alexander’s death, another friend wrote: ‘“Peace be still” I just can’t seam to go back to sleep after finding out a love one is gone. I love you… You will be missed. Gone too soon. R.I.P. until we meet again.’

Alexander’s aunt, Yvonne Yaqoob, wrote: ‘WOW In disbelief PRAYERS for The Alexander Family ..My Family…RIH To My Niecey… [She] will be missed.’

Donta Gaten wrote: ‘Known you since middle school. R.I.P.’
