PODCAST: The Scripture & The Sense Podcast #327: Hosea 10:12 (with Daniel Whyte)

This is Daniel Whyte III with The Scripture & The Sense Podcast #327, where I read the Word of God and give the sense of it based on an authoritative commentary source such as the Bible Knowledge Commentary. This podcast is based upon Nehemiah 8:8 where it says Ezra and the Levites “read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.” The aim of this podcast is that through the simple reading of the Word of God and the giving of the sense of it, the church would be revived and the world would be awakened.
Today we are reading Hosea 10:12.
12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
That was Hosea 10:12. Now here is the sense of it.
The Bible Knowledge Commentary reads:
A brief call to covenant loyalty is included here. Even in the midst of a message of condemnation and judgment God held out the possibility of repentance and blessing. Using agricultural imagery, He urged Israel to seek the LORD by cultivating righteousness (or justice) and reaping His unfailing love. The words showers righteousness compare God’s future gift of righteousness (or just treatment in the form of deliverance to abundant rain.
Thank you for listening to the Scripture & The Sense Podcast.
