Lauren Daigle‘s “You Say” posts its 62nd week at No. 1 on Billboard‘s streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot Christian Songs chart, breaking the record for the longest reign since the survey launched in 2003.
The track passes Hillsong United’s “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail),” which began its 61-frame rule in December 2013.
“I really pondered the journey of the song ‘Oceans,’ and I remember seeing the impact that song made on so many people. It was just so beautiful to me,” Daigle tells Billboard. “I hoped that I could be a part of something that shakes the earth like that song. I didn’t know that would ever happen, and I had no idea that ‘You Say’ would be something that would parallel the life of ‘Oceans.’ ”
“You Say,” which first hit No. 1 on Hot Christian Songs on July 28, 2018 (becoming her fourth leader on the list), extends its lease in the penthouse with a 1% increase to 5.7 million U.S. streams in the week ending Sept. 26, according to Nielsen Music. It tops Christian Streaming Songs for a 58th frame, second to only to Skillet’s “Monster,” which has dominated for 236 weeks since 2013.
With 5,000 downloads sold, “You Say” leads Christian Digital Song Sales for a record-extending 57th week.
“You Say” led Christian Airplay for 17 weeks starting in September 2018 and crossed over for a two-week command on Adult Contemporary, where it spends its 21st week in the top three.
