This is Daniel Whyte III with the Second Coming Watch Update. This is update #881. Let’s take a quick look at today’s prophecy-related headlines which point towards the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the end of the world as we know it.
First, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to BBC News, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says the Palestinians will no longer abide by previous agreements made with Israel. His announcement followed an emergency meeting after Israel razed Palestinian buildings it said were illegally built on the edge of Jerusalem. Agreements signed over the past 25 years cover many spheres of activity, including security co-operation. Mr Abbas said a committee would be formed to work out how to implement the decision. Tensions between Israel and the Palestinians have heightened in recent days after the demolition of the buildings in Wadi Hummus (an area of Sur Baher), which Israel’s High Court said had been built too close to its West Bank barrier. Israel has not yet responded to the move.
Second, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to The Times of Israel, after openly breaching the terms of the nuclear deal, Iran this week also conducted a medium-range ballistic missile test in violation of Security Council resolutions, a report said late Thursday. The country tested a Shahab-3 missile on Wednesday. It was launched from southern Iran and flew some 1,100 kilometers, landing east of Tehran. The military source said the missile did not pose a threat to US or Western assets in the region, and that US officials had closely monitored the activity that preceded the launch.
Third, today, under the Sign category of EARTHQUAKES IN DIVERS PLACES — According to the Los Angeles Times, scientists knew almost immediately that two large quakes that hit near Ridgecrest earlier this month did not come from the San Andreas. But ever since, they’ve been studying whether the quakes could cause more seismic activity from other faults — including the San Andreas nearly 100 miles away. A new calculation conducted in recent weeks at the U.S. Geological Survey showed that there’s an extremely remote chance the San Andreas could be triggered from the Ridgecrest quakes. “It’s slim. But it’s the difference between slim and none,” said USGS seismologist Susan Hough. “I don’t think any earth scientists are going to lose sleep that this will cascade on to the San Andreas.”
Fourth, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to the Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon is sending hundreds of troops to Saudi Arabia as part of a buildup to counter potential threats from Iran and its allies, U.S. officials said, marking a U.S. return to the kingdom after its 2003 withdrawal. U.S. forces will again be stationed at the Prince Sultan Air Base, which had been closed to the American military since the fall of Baghdad following the U.S. invasion of Iraq, officials and experts said. The move comes amid a standoff between the Trump administration and Congress over arms sales to Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf countries, and U.S. support for the Saudi-led war effort in Yemen, and represents a new demonstration of Washington’s strategic interest in Riyadh.
Fifth, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & DISEASES — According to The Independent, drug-resistant malarial parasites are spreading rapidly across South East Asia amid fears the new strain could reach Africa. The new strain has moved from Cambodia to Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, with up to 80 per cent of malarial parasites in circulation resistant to the two most common antimalarial drugs. Researchers said the findings of twin studies published in Lancet Infectious Diseases raise the “terrifying prospect” drug-resistance could spread to Africa where most malaria cases and deaths occur.
The prophetic passage of Scripture that we are looking at today is Jeremiah 32:41-43 which reads: “Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul. For thus saith the Lord; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them. And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.”
Allow me to share with you some commentary on this passage from Exploring Bible Prophecy from Genesis to Revelation, by Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson.
Next, Jeremiah summarizes the New Covenant and its effects, stating three things. First, it will be an everlasting covenant — an eternal, unconditional covenant. Second, God says, “I will not turn away from them, to do them good.” The result of this new, everlasting covenant is that God will “do them good.” And third, God says, “I will put the fear of Me in their hearts, so that they will not turn away from me.” There will be a national salvation that will include every Jew, and they will never again depart from following God.
Because of the New Covenant there is the promise of future blessings. God will rejoice over them to “do them good,” and God intends to “plant them” again into their own land “with all [His] heart and with all [His] whole soul.” That will lead to the reversal described in verse 42. Just as God has brought calamity upon this people, “so [He] is going to bring upon them all the good that [He is] promising them.”
Finally, God repeats the promise that was made earlier: fields will again be bought. Though the land that is now being desolated has indeed lost its value, it will someday become valuable again: “Men will buy fields for money, sign and seal deeds, and call in witnesses.” The verse closes with God’s proclamation, “I will restore their fortunes.”
If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at the prophetic passages of the Bible in our next broadcast / podcast.
Our Second Coming quote for today is from John C. Ryle. He said, “What will you see when the great event of Christ’s return takes place? You will see the eternal Son of God return in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. He will come to raise the dead saints and to change the living ones, to punish the wicked and to reward the godly.”
If you are not ready for the return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how.
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”
Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
