LISTEN: The Importance of the Bible in Life and Eternity (Gospel Light Minute X #340 with Daniel Whyte III)

This is the “chief of sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, with the Gospel Light Minute X Podcast #340 titled, “The Importance of the Bible in Life and Eternity.” I’m here to remind you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me.

The Holy Bible is a collection of 66 “books” by 40 authors of various backgrounds. These books were written over a period of 1600 years. Yet it has one theme: God bringing man out of sin back to Himself.

Some of these books are history, some poetry, and some prophecy. Some of the New Testament letters are thoroughly practical in matters of education and life.

This podcast will help guide you through key passages of the Bible.

The Bible tells us about the one true God. He is the creator of all things, perfectly holy, infinite in wisdom and power.

We were created by God to live in perfect happiness in harmony with Him.

God created us with the freedom of choice. Adam, our first father and our representative, chose to follow Satan rather than obey God. Because of this sin, man fell out of favor with God.

The Bible gives many descriptions of man’s sin. Every person is a sinner; every part of us is inclined to sin. The history of mankind is a terrible story.

By himself, man would never turn to God, but would live in misery and end in hell. But because of His great love and mercy, God made a way of salvation. It was a costly gift.

The Bible says in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God’s own Son, Jesus Christ, came to earth as a baby, becoming a true human being while remaining truly God. He lived a perfect life, taught wonderful truths, yet was put to death on a cross to pay for our sins. God raised Him from the dead, and He is now in Heaven. Some day He will come again to judge everyone.

“Gospel” means “good news”, and this is the central message of the Bible. God’s purpose is to bring man into a personal, saving, loving, productive relationship with Himself.

Salvation is God’s free gift to all who believe that Christ is who the Bible says He is and who put their trust in Christ alone. The atoning sacrifice of Christ is complete payment for all our sins. It is not possible to earn our way into heaven. Only through Christ can we be fully reconciled to God.

Living as a child of God is a life-long struggle against evil and a life-long effort to do God’s will in every area of life.

But we are not left to struggle alone. Living as one reconciled to God is a life of true joy. He sends His Spirit into the hearts of all who believe to guide us in all areas of life. He cares for our daily needs. He works out all things for our benefit. And He is preparing for us an eternal home of perfect joy. Praise God, the Author of my salvation and yours if you but ask.

The Bible says in Romans 10:9,13, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you are willing to trust Jesus Christ with all of your heart so you can go to Heaven, please pray with me what is called the sinner’s prayer: Holy Father God, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I admit that I have sinned against You and that I have broken Your Ten Commandments. I have lied before. I have stolen things before. I have lusted after people and things before. I have dishonored and disobeyed my parents. I have taken Your holy Name in vain. For Jesus Christ’s sake, please have mercy and grace upon my soul and forgive me of all of my sins, my failures, and my faults. As I now believe in Your Holy Son the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that He suffered, bled, and died on the cross for my sins, was buried and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to repent of my sins past. Help me to turn from my old, evil life and follow You in the new life. For it is in Your Name I pray. Amen.
