A court in Brisbane recently granted a Queensland couple more time to sue an ultrasound clinic after their daughter was born with Down Syndrome.
The couple claims that the clinic failed to accurately provide a Down Syndrome diagnosis and that they would have aborted the baby if it had been diagnosed properly.
The couple went to the ultrasound clinic in August 2014 for an ultrasound which was intended to scan for any chromosomal abnormalities. They claim that they were told both by the doctor and the sonographer that their risk was in the “low range.” They further allege that the clinic advised they not undergo any further or more extensive testing.
