It may be late April, but Winter Storm Xyler will make you forget that it is spring in the southern Great Lakes this weekend as it is expected to bring some unusually late season snowfall.
Happening Now
Snow is falling in parts of the southern Great Lakes, as of Saturday evening. Rain and snow will continue sliding eastward through the overnight hours.
A few spots from northeastern Iowa to southern Wisconsin have picked up 2 to 5 inches of snow, just enough to make an April snowman. Rockford, Illinois and Winnebago, Wisconsin have both seen around 4 inches so far.
