Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, a Democrat, described her state’s latest pro-life bill as “abominable and evil.”
The legislation to which she was referring, H.B. 418, would outlaw abortion as soon as a doctor can detect a fetal heartbeat, which usually occurs somewhere between six and seven weeks’ gestation.

Abrams, the former speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives, told MSNBC host Joy Reid on Sunday that such a law would infringe on a woman’s rights and would not be “friendly to the women who work in businesses.”
“You should not have to worry about you ability to control your bodily autonomy,” she argued, “because the governor has pushed such an abominable and evil bill that is so restrictive.”
The politician — a potential 2020 presidential candidate — even went so far to suggest a bill protecting unborn human life is “bad for morality and our humanity.” It’s also “bad for business,” she said.
