A North Carolina couple recently celebrated three big milestones: their two birthdays — and 82 years of marriage.
On Sunday, D.W. Williams, 103, and Willie Williams, 100, were fêted at a party hosted by both their daughter and granddaughter at First Mayfield Memorial Baptist Church in north Charlotte, WSOC-TV reports.
Looking back on their long lives and marriage, the Williamses recalled how they’ve lived through the Great Depression and the civil rights era. They even told the outlet they met a time when a cab ride cost a mere 10 cents.
“To see them at this age and still doing well, it’s just a blessing to have them here,” their granddaughter BJ Williams-Greene told the news outlet.
As for how they’ve made their relationship last, “I don’t have no secret for that, just be nice to each other,” Willie told WSOV-TV.
