
With a victory on Friday night over Saint Louis, Virginia Tech will face the No. 12 seed Liberty Flames on Sunday.
The Hokies and Flames will tip off at approximately 7:10 PM on Sunday night.
Virginia Tech and Liberty, who are both from the Commonwealth of Virginia, are separated by less than 90 miles.
On Friday night, Liberty advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with an 80-76 upset victory over No. 5 seed Mississippi State. The Flames were led by guard Caleb Homesley, who hit five three-pointers enroute to scoring 30 points in the win. Guard Lovell Cabbil (18) and forward Myo Baxter-Bell (13) also recorded double-digit points in the victory.
“I think that I just played confident. I think any shot that I take is going to go in. It just happened tonight that they were falling,” Homesley said following the victory over Mississippi State.
“I’m really thankful for the guys that put me in the spots to score.”
Virginia Tech advanced with a 66-52 victory over Saint Louis, led by Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 20 points.
