A 4-foot high school junior from Texas is proving that you don’t need to be tall to sink a basketball.
Reese Turner has become a social media sensation after posting his highlight reel on Instagram.
And now the Cushing High School student, who is exactly 4ft 4in tall, is turning the Bearkats boys’ basketball team into headline news.
Reese’s highlight reel shows him scoring everything from 3-pointers to free throws, along with showing off some impressive dance moves.
The video has since gone viral, racking up more than 112,000 views.
Reese captioned the video with his two mottos: #differentbreed and #heartoverheight.
The teen said many people didn’t believe that he would be able to play basketball.
‘People still say I couldn’t,’ he told KETK. ‘But I just try to go out there and prove them wrong.’
‘You know, just kind of do my thing and not worry about what people say.’
Jeremy Tamez, Reese’s coach, said he is a dedicated player who works hard to perfect his game.
‘He stays after almost every practice, shoots, makes sure he gets everything down,’ Tamez said.
‘I think it’s pretty amazing to see somebody put that much dedication into something getting seen by everybody out there.’
Reese’s teammate CJ Mays said the Bearkats have loved watching Reese’s star rise.
‘He’s like a brother to me so it was very heartwarming and we support him on and off the court,’ Mays said.
‘Most people like that doesn’t want to play basketball they just, people treat them different.’
But Reese said he is proof that you don’t have to look like everyone else to achieve your dreams.
‘I’m not tall enough, fast enough, strong enough, but yet I still go out there and I still give it 100 percent at whatever I do.’
‘Live up to your dreams and don’t let anybody else destroy your dreams.’
