A fearless woman used her own body to shield a child from two huge dogs who were brutally attacking him.

Mohamed Ehab was attacked by two vicious dogs in the Madinaty suburb of the Egyptian capital Cairo.

In the CCTV footage, the boy can be seen standing in the road with two other youngsters when the two large dogs bound into view.

When they notice the youngsters are sprinting away they turn and begin chasing them, and quickly bear down on Ehab as he sprints towards a building.

But just as he reaches the top of the steps the dogs catch up with him, and drag him down the steps where he gets to his feet and runs away again.

They then pull him down – this time tearing at him savagely. The animals can be seen biting him all over when two women come running to the scene.

One of the women is believed to be the dog’s owner, while the other was a stranger.

The unknown woman threw herself on to the child to protect him from further bites, picking the boy up and spinning him round to avoid their attacks.

The reported owner then grabs the German Shepherd by its tail but fails to grab the black dog, who only gives up when it gets bored of trying to bite the boy.

Ehab was taken to hospital in a ‘critical condition’ with horrific bite wounds and a fever, according to reports.
