Colleges started sniffing around as soon as the video of the middle school quarterback hurling long passes with pinpoint accuracy surfaced.
His name is Arch Manning. He is 13 years old. No one needs to explain the dynasty of his football lineage.
He calls Peyton and Eli uncle. He is named for his grandpa Archie.
He is the eldest son of Cooper, who was a standout player in his own right until he was forced to quit playing sports after being diagnosed with a rare spinal condition at 18.
In the video, Arch is shown stepping back and throwing four passes with impeccable timing. At center is Heid, Arch’s little brother.

The video was originally published by QB Country, a quarterback training and development company in New Orleans, with the description: “How bout that”!! Meet QB Arch Manning of Newman Middle School (La). Btw that’s Heid Manning (little bro) at Center. Baller Manning bro’s tradition continues at Newman.” The video has been viewed more than 863,000 times.
Newman Middle is officially Isidore Newman School, a private, college prep academy in the uptown section of New Orleans. It is also where the older generation of three Manning boys played football through high school in the 1990s.
Newman varsity football coach Nelson Stewart is ready for the next round of Mannings and so is the football world, he told Fox 8 WVUE in New Orleans.
“Nowadays with social media, and what’s out there, obviously the interest has started,” he said. “As we say, he’s still an eighth-grader. Obviously we’re excited to have him. I think as hard as he’s working, and the the things I’ve seen, he’ll be here in a hurry.”
Stewart said Arch has pinpoint accuracy and great pocket awareness, along with that strong football bloodline.
