R. Kelly‘s former manager surrendered to authorities on Friday for allegedly making terrorist threats, according to authorities.
James Mason was wanted on a July 23, 2018, warrant charging him with felony terroristic threats and acts, the Henry County Sheriff’s Department in Georgia confirmed.
The 52-year-old is accused of telling Timothy Savage, the father of one of Kelly’s alleged victims, “I’m gonna do harm to you and your family, when I see you I’m gonna get you, I’m going to -—ing kill you” in May, according to a police report obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The alleged threat came during a three-way call with another man, who told police he heard it.
Mason was released on $10,000 bond and will have to appear in court at a later date.
Savage claims the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer has brainwashed his daughter, Joycelyn, and is holding her against her will as part of a cult. He said he hasn’t heard from Joycelyn in two years.
In a 2017 video, Joycelyn denied she was being held by the Grammy winner.
“I just want everybody to know — my parents and everybody in the world — that I’m totally fine,” she said in the video. “I’m happy where I’m at and everything is OK with me.”
The slew of long-standing sexual abuse allegations against the 52-year-old singer-songwriter, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was chronicled in the Lifetime docu-series “Surviving R. Kelly.”
Families of his alleged victims, including the Savages, are featured in the series.
“Let this be a message to R. Kelly’s staff that we won’t be bullied or threatened. We will continue to pursue legal action against any and all threats to the safety of the Savage family,” said the Savages’ lawyer Gerald Griggs. “Our goal has always been to bring Joycelyn Savage home safely and we will not be deterred.”’
