Social media sensation Boo the Pomeranian dog passed away Friday due to heart problems he started experiencing shortly after his fellow canine friend Buddy died in 2017.
The news was confirmed on the pooch’s social media accounts of over 17 million followers combined when his owners revealed the tiny pet got sick after his best friend lost his life.
‘With deepest sadness I wanted to share that Boo passed away in his sleep early this morning and has left us to join his best friend, Buddy,’ his owners posted on Facebook.

The author explained on the website: ‘Boo showed signs of heart issues. We think his heart literally broke when Buddy left us. He hung on and gave us over a year. But it looks like it was his time, and I’m sure it was a most joyous moment for them when they saw each other in heaven.’
Boo’s friendship with buddy began when he joined the home in spring 2006. The Facebook post detailed how Boo, who was born in San Francisco, refused to pose for pictures without Buddy.
Boo’s owners thanked Adobe Animal Hospital and Sage Veterinary Centers for taking care of the pair before they passed.
However the family who refer to themselves as ‘Boo’s humans’ resigned: ‘But it looks like it was his time, and I’m sure it was a most joyous moment for them when they saw each other in heaven.’

Remembering a decade of ‘adorable mischief’, the family fondly shared how ‘over the years Boo met some super cool people, a lot of crazy talented people, but most of all so many kind people…’
Those included the likes of news anchor Anderson Cooper, singer Liam Payne of One Direction fame and fashion designer Tory Burch.
The dog’s carers are certain they’ll be reunited with him in the afterlife: ‘Boo, we love you with all our hearts and will miss you until the day we meet again.’
During his years on Earth, Boo released his own book, titled Boo: The Life of the World’s Cutest Dog. The 2011 career achievement was one of many for the public figure that also boasts approximately 540,000 Instagram followers and 4,000 fans on Twitter.

But Boo – whose favorite food is chicken, cheese, flowers, grass and dirt – remained humble in his famous years. He enjoyed simple pleasures such as making games from ‘running outside, following around big bro, squeaky toys!’
The fashionable dog’s favorite pastime is listed on social media as ‘wearing shirts’ and his favorite color was pink.
A statement read: ‘Our family is heartbroken, but we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in any pain or discomfort.
‘We know that Buddy was the first to greet him on the other side of that rainbow bridge, and this is likely the most excited either of them have been in a long time.’

The social media account added that Boo not only brought his family joy, he improved the lives of his fans.
Boo wasn’t just a pretty face either. So rare was he that he didn’t have to go through training like other pets and even made masculine men melt with his charm.
‘Since starting Boo’s FB page, I’ve received so many notes over the years from people sharing stories of how Boo brightened their days and helped bring a little light to their lives during difficult times,’ the owner wrote.
‘And that was really the purpose of all this…Boo brought joy to people all over the world. Boo is the happiest dog I’ve ever met.
‘He was so easy going that we never had to bother with training. He made the manliest of men squeal with delight over his cuteness and made everyone laugh with his quirky, tail wagging personality.’
